Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

The following contains some good teaching against women preachers.

For all who are truly sincere seekers of the truth concerning this subject, I suggest you give it a read:

In the above Paul shows that its okay for the aged women to teach the young women. I don't have a problem with women teaching women.

Paul explains the silence part...

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Silence meaning not to teach men, but could also include not disrupting the service.

Also, concerning men in high leadership/authoritarian roles, consider this...

Act 1:16 Men and brethren, this Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Notice he's addressing men and brethren.

Act 1:21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Act 1:22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

Notice "of these men...must one be ordained". Women were not even in the realm of possibility for being considered as a replacement for Judas.

God bless.

I see. So "silence" doesn't really mean to keep silent, it just means not to usurp authority over the men?

Interesting.

Either way, I won't argue the point further. The defense rests, lol.

Women can preach as long as they stay under authority of the men and wear a vail.

Doing so may impress and convince some, but in dealing with people with any sense and intelligence it is just plain rude behavior that scripture clearly says is unbecoming of men who claim to be ministers of the gospel.
I was trying to get some info to teach on lessons from the preaching of Phoebe & Junia could you help me?

Listen I am being light hearted NOT condescending and yes maybe a little sarcasm but it is meant in humor yet illustrates a point. I would never offend Sis. Alvear she knows that. No one particularly myself doubts her burden and the good work she has done in Brazil. She understands I am being funny not ugly. However I find no scripture that authorizes a woman preaching in a public assembly to men. Just provide the verse and the discussion is over.
But all this guessing-assumptions-and yes imaginations about what Phoebe did or did not do is absurd. I don't knowwhat she did and neither do you. I have no idea if Junia was a man or woman and neither do you. NOTHING even remotely suggests Junia was a Apostle either man or woman.

I don't think in light of NT teaching and the culture and mindset of that day that Junia would have been an Apostle.

Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

I don´t believe in women ruling over men however I do believe that God calls women to his harvest fields.
Let´s say in a sitting Elder Epley, Elder who ever...and Sister Alvear...I would NEVER get up and say I have something to teach you guys however if Elder Epley said, Sister Alvear would you share with us something...I am NOT in any way taking rule over a man...
Today my husband started the service and told the church I had prepared a special part which I did...A scene about the death of Jesus...the young people led by me did their skit, I said my part telling the church about Via Dolorosa...
I took no rule over anyone...
My husband read the Bible celebrated the Lord´s supper with us, prayed and dismissed service...All that took a little over 3 hours but it was precious...

I see no difference in a lady sharing or singing...I HAVE SEEN SOME LADY SONG LEADERS that might not have been called preachers but they sure were way too loud...for my liking.
I think a person´s spirit tells us a lot...

Please, do not take me wrong when I use Elder Epley as an example because we may differ in some ways but I have much respect for him and his family...so I feel I can use him as an example.

I don´t mind going to a church that does not use women as long as they are kind and respectful...I am grown up enough to realize we all may see some things differently but we can learn from one another.

No problem in using my name Sis.Alvearhas always been a lady to me I hope I have always behaved as a gentleman to her. I preached at Weedpatch & Jonesboro and both men had preachers for wives. They knew what I believed when they asked me but they knew I would not abuse their pulpit.

LOL! I'm always amazed at how those against women preachers lift themselves up as The Preachers of The Truth and Those Who Refuse to Compromise. The rest of us just say "Hey, this is what I think the Bible says. This is what it seems to say to me." I think some things are telling.
