Now I have 3 boys I am bringing up.... Every now and then I listen to TD Jakes messages about Fighting for the Family... In one of his messages, he tells the ladies that they are raising some woman's dream or some woman's nightmare... I sure do hope my boys become the men of a young lady's dream and not their night mare....
Oh, guess that could be #1 thing you don't know about me...
1. I have T.D. Jakes preaching cd's that I listen too...

Now that is a poweful statement! I have 3 boys as well and will take this to heart.

Re: 5 Things AFF Doesn't Know About Me!
I think one of the neatest things we can do as parents is to teach our children not only how to act, but what to expect in relationships.
We can teach by example!
One great way is for the dad to take the daughter out and teach her how a young man should treat her. Open the doors, pull out her chair, let her order first, etc. Set the bar high so she "expects" to be treated like a young lady.
Moms teach you sons how to respect women, let them know how to make a young lady feel she is special. There are all sorts of tid-bits as moms we can teach them.
I've told this before, but my brother as a young teen grabbed a girls purse in church and was going to go through it. I stopped him and later told him WHY that was wrong and he would find things that would embarrass him. He said to this day he doesn't even look through his wife's purse because he respects her.
Just some thoughts - - as I think outloud.

Amen on respecting others.
I don't go through my husband's wallet, and he doesn't go through my purse.
I taught my boys and girls, if you cross any lines, you deal with the consequences.

Same here.... now honestly, I wouldn't mind if my husband did... nor would he care if I went through his wallet.... but out of respect, we just don't... if we need something from the each other, my husband usually gives my purse to me and I give him his wallet......and let him willingly hand over $$$$
R-E-S-P-E-C-T goes a long way.... Teach our children to respect themselves and others..... that is one of the main rules in my house... to have respect... In all that you do... be a person of good character and a man/woman of integrity. Children will learn what kind of a person to be by watching Mom and Dad..... although sometimes that is scary, it's an incredible chance to bring up some incredible young men and young ladies.

Good stuff
I think thats why I don't like men. I was raised by a single mom who was constantly telling me how to treat my girlfriends, what to and not to do and when to do it. How to respect them. Growing up I would watch other guys with their girlfriends and wonder why the girl was putting up with it or wasting her time. Then I get to go through ole sad song of "be a man" , "who wears the pants" and blah blah blah.
I need my truck. Without it I can't go to work, get food, go to church, etc. So I take special care of it. The same with my home and myself.
God didn't create woman on a whim or as an after thought. God created woman for man, because man needs woman. Man should thus take special care of woman. And then some.

I raised great kids, I sometimes wonder, how did I raise kids like that? I know I made mistakes, but they turned out awesome!!!!!

Keeps you on your toes for sure!
If dad treats mom like she's the domestic help instead of the domestic goddess that she is or the mom "dogs" the dad as always being lazy and never helping - then what are we teaching the kids?

I think the good place is somewhere between the 2 extremes of domestic help & domestic goddess.

Ain't that the truth.
Seems like some kids today think they are entitled. Who taught them that? Give me what I want, when I want it. And I don't have to pay for it in any way.
