I have had the "misfortune" of seeing some of the local churches in different areas of the country put their services on public access, and most of them make the churches look like back woods, wrong side of the track, churches.

When most of men look at being on TV they are thinking of TD Jakes, Rod Parsley quality broadcasts. Which are major productions and cost serious money to broadcast.

I have personally been on the staff of a ministry that broadcast nationally on cable and it cost them $2000.00 per week for 30 min. and this was highly discounted to get them on the air(this did not include the cost of production.) Very few churches have that kind of money to throw around.

Running commercials is an even worst investment. Think about how many commercials you see for non-Apostolic churches on TV. (I am not talking about on TBN or other christian stations, I'm referring to regular local or cable channels) Very few indeed! Why?

The non-Apostolics tried commercials years ago and found out it did not work, and they quit sinking their money into a "bag with holes." We're like the proverbial teenager who's parent tells them it's not a good idea to do something because they have been there and tried it and it didn't work, yet the teenager feels they can do it anyway and the outcome will be different. JMHO
This is a very astute observation. I agree with it all.

I have dreamed of a Oneness Broadcasting Network for quite a long time. After all, both CBN and TBN started on a shoestring with little more than a 100 watt transmitter and a shoe box for a camera. I believe someone is going to catch the vision for an OBN and run with it sooner or later.

The preachers and musicians who know who Jesus is has the greater anointing. The world is hungry for it. The danger that I see is the A. A. Allen syndrome. In the beginning he was a very humble man dedicated to much prayer and fasting. Later, he and his performing team became transformed into STARS beneath the bright lights of the camera. Millions watched him weekly on his "Miracle Revival Telecast."

So the question is, can good men with the right message resist the seduction tendency to resist the Allen star syndrome? If so, the world awaits with open arms with the money and acceptance. But, is that really what we want?

To echo Coonskinner's words, Landy is as real as they come. He is very much like his dad and has a very balanced approach to the Kingdom of God tempered with grace and mercy!

Br. Ewing is very close to my family. He and my dad were great friends. My mom does tailoring for the entire Ewing family. My daughter, grand daughter and son in law are under his pastoral care. In the past 3 weeks he, with permission, counseled my 21 year old son and impacted him more in 45 minutes than anyone ever has regardless the time invested. His genuine love and compassion are unmatched in this generation!

God Bless Bro. Murrell Ewing!

I sure would like to know.

One thing is without dispute. Landy is one of the friendliest and unpretentious human beings I have ever met.

Of the 1970's era big time PK's he was the only one I knew who I met that was genuine, down to earth, and not caught up in the social strata of the UPC at the time.

If I saw him today I am sure he would call me by name and be as warm and friendly as he has ever been. Over the last 30 years he has always been the same everytime I have ever been around him.

This is true, bro. and accentuates the need for elder/org oversight, all new endeavors should be lead by men under authority/accountability. Instead the org. cast out those with the vision and the bucks, to go it alone with out accountability. In 1977, Mark Hanby preached a very conservative message, he came from Extreme Ultra Conservative stock. Mark's father and mother were some of the most precious folks you would want to meet. Is his failure the UPC's fault, of course not, but neither did it imped his train wreck in any way.

I sure would like to know.

I am not sure where Landy would rank on the conservative scale.

I think he is fairly conservative, though, having lived long enough to see both sides of the road.

I remember hearing a preacher one time quote the production costs of that day for the average network television drama and try to say that is what a church program would cost. It was absurd. It was truly a case or either ignorance or manipulating non releveant numbers intentionally to make a point.
KP is said to have "charted new waters" and so the question remains.

What is the number of increase he has seen due to being on Television?

In the last 12 months, how many added to the church roll as a direct result of "Evangelism?"

ABN comes to mind first how we are NOT ready for TV.

They are not ready for the net crowd either.

Man, there is a lot I could say about this situation.

If you were to start a thread about it, I might have a few things to say. Mark was probably one of the most gifted preacher among us during his best years.

When he needed his bretheren, where were they? This is probably one of the saddest stories that I know of in modern Pentecost.
