Re: Healthcare is not a right
Funny, I thought Christians believed in Jesus Christ who 'healeth all our diseases'? Not 'Jesus Christ who commandeth tribute for universal health insurance coverage.'

Having said that, I think no state should receive federal funding, and the taxes from the federal government should be reduced to reflect that. Using federal funds in this manner (such as you've just advocated) is simply another way for the federal government to try and control the states. The founders meant for it to be the other way around, we the people and the states were intended to control the federal government.

Some states have need of public services that their population cannot handle. Therefore, to reduce the tax burden on the local population, federal funds are often made available. The taxes collected by the federal government has greater purchasing power due to shear volume, no significant increase is needed in most cases.

Over simplification.
Since people without insurance can just go to the ER and not pay the bill, it is unfair to those who are insured to have that loss passed down to them by providers and increased premiums. The only just way of dealing with the issue is to have EVERYONE pay into the system, since it is available to EVERYONE.
Or, we can turn away the sick and dying who can't pay and allow them to die on the sidewalks outside of the ER.
The most significant reason that your premiums are so high is because you already are paying for people to receive care. People who turn around and either don't or can't pay the bill. At least with Single Payer, every able bodied American pays something into the system for any care they receive or might potentially need.
