Do you think Ted Cruz would lay his own reputation and political aspirations on the line for no good apparent reason? I would say he would not.

I support Israel as a Democratic ally.
I think you missed that "equal protection" thing but I would not expect you to view that as very important.

Israel is as democratic as the South was under the greatest days of the Klan.

But: You're not the first white conservative to applaud practices like that though are you so it's all good.

Israel Shahak was born on April 28, 1933 in Warsaw, Poland. In 1943-5, the Nazis in the Poniatowo and Bergen–Belsen concentration camps imprisoned Shahak and his parents. The 12–year–old Shahak and his mother immigrated to Palestine after the liberation of the camps in 1945. In the 1960s, while working as Professor of Chemistry at Hebrew University, Shahak became one of Israel´s leading voices of dissent. In 1970 he was elected chairman of the Israeli Human and Civil Rights League, and spent the next three decades strongly advocating equality and civil rights. In the 1990s, Shahak emerged as one of the strongest critics of the Oslo ‘peace process’, which he denounced as a fraud and a vehicle for making the Israeli occupation more efficient.

Let's take a peek into the laws and practices exposed by this author:

...the murder of a Jew is a capital offense and one of the three most heinous sins (the other two being idolatry and adultery). Jewish religious courts and secular authorities are commanded to punish, even beyond the limits of the ordinary administration of justice, anyone guilty of murdering a Jew. A Jew who indirectly causes the death of another Jew is, however, only guilty of what talmudic law calls a sin against the 'laws of Heaven', to be punished by God rather than by man.

When the victim is a Gentile, the position is quite different. A Jew who murders a Gentile is guilty only of a sin against the laws of Heaven, not punishable by a court.1 To cause indirectly the death of a Gentile is no sin at all.2

Incorporated into a booklet published by the Central Region Command of the Israeli Army, whose area includes the West Bank. In this booklet the Command's Chief Chaplain writes:

When our forces come across civilians during a war or in hot pursuit or in a raid, so long as there is no certainty that those civilians are incapable of harming our forces, then according to the Halakhah they may and even should be killed ... Under no circumstances should an Arab be trusted, even if he makes an impression of being civilized ... In war, when our forces storm the enemy, they are allowed and even enjoined by the Halakhah to kill even good civilians, that is, civilians who are ostensibly good.

Yeah, they're democratic all right. Like any other murderous group of religious zealots.

That's really not what America is or should support. Again: Cruz deserved to be boo'd.

I see that Israel Shahak draws on the Oral Law - Talmud and Halakhah. The exact thing that Jesus was against - the traditions of the Pharisees. (Matthew 15:19)

Yet, I see that He was not anti-Semitic.

Paul was not anti-Semitic. (Romans 10:1)

Thank you for making Ted Cruz's point, once again.

The only reason you are on the side of the naysayers is because you are anti-Semitic. This last post of yours solidly proves that point.

I'm an American and I believe in American principles and the laws discussed in the referenced book are current, not historical laws. Like the referenced author above (Jewish author) and the holocaust survivors who penned that letter (Jewish survivors) in the New York Times last month I also do not believe that a country should have one set of laws that apply to one group and another set of laws that apply to another group.

If the post above was anti-Semitic take it up with the Jewish author who wrote the book exposing these practices and the Israeli policy-makers who wrote the book of rules for their combat troops.

If my support for American principles of equal protection under the law is anti-Semitic I'll live with that.

Thank you however for confirming my initial point that Israeli principles do not mesh with American principles and that application of American principles towards Israeli treatment of their neighbors results in a conclusion that American principles are fundamentally opposite Israeli principles. I am not sure that this is anti-Semitic, I would be more inclined to believe that their legal system is anti-American - especially in the light that it would not cross my mind to treat someone from their country who comes to or lives in our country any differently based on where they are from or what they believe.

That's my position. You and Cruz keep supporting the camps and dual legal systems and ethnic and religious cleansing. At least that's all out in the open now. In the meantime you and Cruz and your colleagues might address some of the common issues that your fellow Christians experience in Israel by (1) stop funding it until it changes and (2) stop applauding everything Israel does until they demonstrate some inclusiveness.

Former adviser to the mayor on Christian affairs, Shmuel Evyatar, describes the situation as "a huge disgrace." He says most of the instigators are yeshiva students studying in the Old City who view the Christian religion with disdain.

"I'm sure the phenomenon would end as soon as rabbis and well-known educators denounce it. In practice, rabbis of yeshivas ignore or even encourage it," he says.

Evyatar says he himself was spat at while walking with a Serbian bishop in the Jewish quarter, near his home. "A group of yeshiva students spat at us and their teacher just stood by and watched."

http://www.jpost.com/Magazine/Mouths-filled-with-hatred

"Every single priest in this church has been spat on. It happens day and night." Father Athanasius, a Texas-born Franciscan monk who heads the Christian Information Center inside the Jaffa Gate, said he's been spat at by haredi and national Orthodox Jews "about 15 times in the last six months" - not only in the Old City, but also on Rehov Agron near the Franciscan friary. "One time a bunch of kids spat at me, another time a little girl spat at me," said the brown-robed monk near the Jaffa Gate. "All 15 monks at our friary have been spat at," he said. "Every [Christian cleric in the Old City] who's been here for awhile, who dresses in robes in public, has a story to tell about being spat at. The more you get around, the more it happens." A nun in her 60s who's lived in an east Jerusalem convent for decades says she was spat at for the first time by a haredi man on Rehov Agron about 25 years ago. "As I was walking past, he spat on the ground right next to my shoes and he gave me a look of contempt," said the black-robed nun, sitting inside the convent. "It took me a moment, but then I understood." Since then, the nun, who didn't want to be identified, recalls being spat at three different times by young national Orthodox Jews on Jaffa Road, three different times by haredi youth near Mea She'arim and once by a young Jewish woman from her second-story window in the Old City's Jewish Quarter. But the spitting incidents weren't the worst, she said - the worst was the time she was walking down Jaffa Road and a group of middle-aged haredi men coming her way pointed wordlessly to the curb, motioning her to move off the sidewalk to let them pass, which she did.

I live and have lived for several years in a Semitic country. I don't get spit on in the street, nor do I feel the urge to spit on others. With this in mind would you like to reconsider the above comment?

You and Cruz's support of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, who are also Semitic (you DO know that right?) makes you what?

We don't support the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. They kill their own and don't give a hoot about it - hiding bombs in homes, schools, hospitals, etc.

The Jews aren't strapping bombs on their people. That's something the Palestinians practice. Because their religion - moderate are not - is to convert or die. No other religion has that written in their holy book.

Walks, what is your opinion of Sharia law? Is it to be propagated? Is it to be embraced? Do you believe it will come to America? Do you believe America needs it?

Exclusive–Ted Cruz on Potential 2016 Run: Question for all GOP Primary Voters Is 'Who Is Standing Up and Leading?'

As it pertains to the Republican primary in 2016, Cruz said the litmus test for GOP voters should be whether a given candidate has led on the battlefield of ideas against the left and political establishment as a whole.

“I think the critical question for any primary voter in terms of who to support is: Who is standing up and leading? That’s the test I intend to apply as a voter who will vote in the Republican primary in 2016,” Cruz said. Elaborating, Cruz stated:

" We’re facing enormous challenges, fiscal and economic threats, threats to our Constitutional liberties, a world that keeps getting more and more dangerous as America has receded from leadership. What we should be looking to is who is standing up and leading? Who is making the case that the path we’re on isn’t working and there is a better path? We can get back to the free market principles. We can get back to the constitutional liberties that this country was founded upon. What I would encourage everyone who is thinking about this to do is stand up and lead."

Really? They do? Lets look at the stats.

That's half of the murder rate in Houston.

Where Cruz practiced law.

Jews don't engage in terrorist attacks? What kind of ignorant nonsense is that? You DO know that the Jewish state was founded on terrorism don't you?

"Convert or die" is a Christian invention, not a Muslim invention.

From The Crusades, by Bernard Hamilton:1

“In 1309 the Teutonic Order moved its headquarters to Marienburg in Prussia. It had a papal license to wage perpetual war against the pagans and used this to launch annual crusades against Lithuania. These expeditions were very popular the nobility of northern Europe: campaigns were held twice a year, in the summer and in the winter when the order laid on special Christmas festivities for visiting crusaders.”

“The excuse for men who enjoyed fighting and to lay waste large parts of Lithuania in the name of Christ was removed in 1386 when the King of Lithuania, Ladislas Jagiello, married Queen Jadwiga of Poland and received Catholic baptism. The two kingdoms were united under Christian rulers and the Teutonic Knights no longer had any justification for crusading against pagans there.”

Lithuania was not the first country that fell victim to a campaign of lethal military force, for the purpose of forced conversion to Christianity. Three entire European nationalities became victims of genocide because they refused to become Christians:

“...the Vandals, Ostogoths, and Heruli. The last three were destroyed by the Pope of Rome because they refused to become ‘Christian.’ The armies of Emperor Justinian, in cooperation with the Pope, thrust the Ostrogoths out of the city of Rome. They have become extinct.”2

Jews had to endure the sword too. Millions of Jews from the fourth century CE until the 20th Century were forced to “kiss the sword” of Christ, or be put to death by that sword. Therefore, many, many Jews died at the hands of Christians in the name of Jesus. Fortunately, many Jews managed to survive. They survived by lying―they converted, but secretly remained Jews. The Christian Church finally realized what was happening and in 1492, the Spanish Inquisition tried to purge the country of these “Secret” Jews, called Marranos.

Islamic Law does not "force" conversions at the cost of life.

Legal systems based strictly on religion are dangerous to the governed no matter which religion they are based on.

Which is something that our founders recognized based on historical experience with Christian rule.

You still here?

I was hoping you were somewhere in Iraq or Syria catching some American bombs.
If you go make sure to take a nice big baseball glove so you can catch them.
