Re: If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again

Cindy - there are many ways to kill and not all of them physically

Jesus sadly would not be even allowed on a platform today and would probably be ushered to the back of the church so as to not contaminate anyone

<grin> noticed we have mutual facebook friends. Gives ya something to do! LOL

Well, but you finish with calling me fantastic, and start with a direct denial of Scripture? "You reap what you sew." This is about premises. Period. And to have the stones to actually post "One does not always reap what one sews,"
and go on to further re-explain Scripture to your best satisfaction is stretching the intent of this passage, i think. Yes, cancer sometimes just shows up uninvited; that person still reaps what he sews, even if he dies from a random sensitivity or whatever that caused cancer in him, dont you think? The two are not related, imo.

I am not re-explaining Scripture. I am stating a fact. One does not always reap what one sows, as you just acknowledged, though you added the spurious and untrue "that person still reaps what he sows". Why did you do that? I'll tell you why: it's because you think you must believe the Bible, even when it says something contrary to reality.

Suit yourself, but it's just not for me. Not anymore.

Re: If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again

BTW, reaping and sowing is a good general rule: a statement of how things should and often do work. Like sowing and reaping cancer -- there are things that increase your risk, and sowing/reaping often does work in that case. Sowing a disregard of the law often reaps jail time.

It's a general rule. Like raising up your child in the way he should go. But many, many children do depart from it. Like it or not.

Re: If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again

I think that explains sewing/reaping pretty well;
and any protestations of exceptions are naive.
And while you are right about why i believe as
I do, I can say that I have got beyond a slavish
empty 'belief' here, which allows that although one
invariably--that's 'always'--reaps what one sews,
there will be many, many personal moments that
might seem to contradict this.

I have a new--and I mean new--pair of
snow boots, that I needed badly, only
because my mom and sis were shopping
with me, and they spoke them there, on the way to
the next store we were going to, after 3 misses.

I had gotten discouraged, finding no boots at all
in the first three tries; but that feeling dissolved
amidst the shame, and the sick certainty I
experienced the moment they corrected me
in the car, describing the boots we had yet to find.

Now that is a fact, although I'm fairly sure
where you might come down on the issue.
The fact you stated above, and quite often your
other facts, appear to be true enough from your
pov, but might be described as exceptions by most believers;
revealing your premises; but revealing them to whom?

There in the car yesterday, I'm curious what your response
might have been to my sister's aghast look, and confident
statement that not only were we going to find a pair of boots
in the next thrift store, they were going to be brand new, just my size, etc.

Ha. Hey, WII. Amen to these. Physically killing someone, murdering at least, is demonstrating that one has missed the point; we fight against powers and principalities, a fancy way of saying that we battle the dissillusion, not the disillusioner.

Every time one has a reply to make,
they essentially have a choice to make;
and any choice that is not life-affirming
is another opportunity lost. Reaffirming
spiritual death. Christ did not need their
pulpit then, like He would not now, because
He will supercede those pulpits with life-
affirming choices, that people, lost people,
all people, will flock to, leaving the pulpit-
owners pounding it in vain.

Then 'it' never was for you, Timmy. A person, having
experienced snow boots that they have not seen yet,
with a certain sick chagrin, does not, ever, 'go back.'

You rail at losing, or leaving, something that you
have never actually experienced, imo.

Re: If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again

"It always works, even when you can't tell that it works" is pointless.

Re: If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again

Nothing to report, yet. Haven't really exercised my new ability, though, that I recall. Will have to think of something to test it with. Any suggestions?

Thought about it too late, but I should have spoken that the Giants would win the World Series in a sweep.
