Re: Has Hell Disappeared?
Fear does not draw anyone to God. Love, however does.

The father of Lies and Fear was cast out by the ultimate example of Love ... God's Son ...at the Cross ...

Re: Has Hell Disappeared?
speaking of light, implies there is a darkness. Speaking of heaven implies there is a hell. Speaking of salvation implies there is something to be saved from. Paul speaks of warning people...you don't warn people about good things but rather of bad things.
Jesus spoke about hell. Jesus spoke about sin.

Why would the same writer use Hades in one place and Gehenna in another if he was referring to the same thing? especially considering the world they were writing to already had a very clear definition of Hades.

Hades is just the place of the dead. Revelation says the dead are thrown into the Lake O Fire

Fear makes some people look at their lives and realize they need a savior. Love draws them to God

And yet Hades in various translations is rendered as hell ... and sometimes Hades/Hell scriptures used to formulate doctrine ...

Been there, done that. I'm left wondering why folks keep doing it over and over again when it really produces no net results.

Someone on FB remarked ... that thousands ... including himself ... came to Christ through the "threat of hell"

And maybe he did. But I think that particular person's view of God would be very interesting to say the least. "Interesting" as in, nothing like the way we see the God of John 3:16.

It does for some, Prax. But God's message is I love YOU so much, I sent MY son to die for YOUR sins. Out of His great love, He draws us to Him. That does not mean however, that we can sin without consequences. I don't think Hell as most believe it to be, was made to scare people to God. Fear is torment in and of itself. You can't live for God and live in that kind of fear.

Re: Has Hell Disappeared?
Amazing how anyone could say its not profitable to teach the foundation doctrine of eternal judgment. If it were not of God and unprofitable Yeshua would not have taught it. He felt it was essential to warn people to flee from it. A Christian would not want to insult Jesus by saying his teaching was not good. If we ourselves dont teach it we are ashamed of his words.
