OH, HO!!! When I read "soy", oh my Lord - don't get me started!!!
I was using your post because you mentioned it.
Any candle with a zinc core wick will also burn evenly without waste. That's the type of wick that I use.
If I wanted to debate I know you'd give me a good one!!!! Still remembering the great and intelligent time we had with the vaccine thread!
Haha....I was thinking of the vaccine thread when I posted back to you....LOL!
I don't know anything about wicks, but of all the candles I've burned from all different makers and models, NONE of them burn completely and evenly. I have murdered many a candle by putting the wax toward the center only to ruin the candle because the wax covers the wick and it can't burn any longer.
Seems like 'soy' gets you going like 'standards' does to others......hahaha!
BTW, can you give me info about your candles? I'd like to try them. PM me if you wish.

I wonder if you allowed the melt pool to go across the container before you extinguished it on the first burn? That can cause the candle to give you problems from there on.
What are your favorite scents? I'm not going totally public until I have every candle perfect. I have several that are perfect. I have to be able to light one in the other room and smell it when the door is shut. That is my test.
I love Gardenia and have a killer candle with that scent. I also have a pound Cake and a Citrus candle that are knockouts.
I don't think my daughter has these on her website yet. She's still under construction with it.
Yeah, the soy thing drives me wild!!!! It's totally propaganda! Sheesh!
Have you ever poured a Zifendel (sp?) candle? I have a woodwick one and it smells amazing! Everyone who walks in when it is burning comments on the wonderful fragrance.
Bump for P.O.

Yes, I do. My candles burn for sometimes 6 hours or more at a time.

I love anything fruity. Nothing flowery, as I'm allergic to many of them. I like apple pie, coffee aromas, vanilla, melon, cinnamon, and similar aromas.

LOL! I made soy candles a couple years ago and thought of going into the business myself, but decided that the money investment I had to make, along with the time factor wasn't worth it to me. I still have some of those candles but gave many away. They were delicious!
I understand your frustration though!

I do remember buying some Cooking Sherry to make a particular recipe with chicken. My husband just came unglued. "Do you know how much alcohol is in this?"
I said, "Well, good grief, are you afraid you're going to drink it or something?"
Yes, I do. My candles burn for sometimes 6 hours or more at a time.

I am still not sure about the Cucumber Melon I carry. I thought it smelled like fresh cut grass, but my daughter liked it. I want to try a few more to see if I have the best scent for that one.
Probably won't do Apple Pie until the fall. Still testing my Vanilla. I switched my supplier on that one and haven't tested it yet. It's sitting on the kitchen table to be lit tomorrow. My Cinnamon is strong. I also have a Peppermint Eucalyptus which is awesome!
You are so right. I'm in at around $2,000 already!
I might venture into the soy, just to check it out, but I'd have to have paid back my start up before I spent any more!!! Whew!
Unless the mouth of your container is 6" wide, girl! - you are burning that candle too long! lol! Dangerous!
