Or better yet, why don't you try answering it first so we have a sense of what your asking?

I can read, Jekyll.

I said, "I don't understand....", not "I can't read it."

Could you please rephrase the question?

Here is a very simple way that I look at this now:

If the rules follow what is Biblical, then they are pleasing to God - Follow them.

If the rules are extra-Biblical, then they may or may not be pleasing to God...Beware.

When rules get to the point that they are harmful to self and others, that's when it's time to draw the line.

All of the isolationism (only meeting with a certain number of people from the church on certain days and having to be the object of so much regulation as far as houses, jobs, clothing, etc., etc.) is not healthy.

God wants the Church to be a healthy body - not a battered and bruised one. He doesn't beat and bruise us to get us into shape. His Word is there for us to learn and His Spirit is there to guide us.... I've often wondered if some preachers would have been happier living in a different era - the time when Bibles were not available to the common person. In some churches, it's almost as though "the Priest" or "the Pastor" is the only who who can read and INTERPRET. God gave us a High Priest and He can be touched by the feelings of our infimities. He wants us to be healthy. He gave us His Word. We need preachers, but we don't need dictators.

I don't really understand what your asking either, but I will try...

Submitting and honoring as long as what we are being taught are biblical principals and allowed to live our lives....the last sermon I heard when I left the first time...was on a Mothers day...the day we honor the the wifes and mothers of the church for all they contribute and do for their husband, children, family and most of all God....

We were told how terrible we were, how all the evil and bad spirits came into the woman of the church...you men better get your wifes under control...

That is a very brief wording of course because the rant went on for about 45 minutes on the evils of women...there were several other things that happened that day that just totally broke my heart...

My husband said he would not take me back to such a attitude, and have his wife treated that way...

Brother I think respect goes both ways and I know the bible says we are to submit one to another...I have no problem with authority over me, but not a dictator

Just a question of my own...

Generally speaking, is it better to remove yourself out from under a dictatorial authority figure entirely, or to "stand up to it", e.g., rebel against it?
