Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

With the history of the neighborhood, it is completely understandable that Zimmerman would take note of a young black man in the area. If the facts support his story with Martin jumping him, it is simply a perfect storm for a sad outcome. Zimmerman could reasonably assume that Martin was up to no good, young black men were regularly terrorizing the neighborhood. Martin may not have known the history, and very well may have not had any bad intentions, may have simply decide to "whoop up on this stranger checking him out". Zimmerman not knowing who are what he was dealing with, simply defended himself. He had been advised to "get a gun" by a police officer, it is perfectly reasonable that he would want protect himself, if he was in charge of the neighborhood watch. If it can be established that he was out to kill a young black man, then the charge is right, however, there is no known evidence to support that as fact. Sharpton and the race agitators, ignore the bad behavior of their own community, for their own power and influence. If the "special prosecutor" has over charged and falsely raised expectations of a conviction she and those that support her will be responsible for any over reaction of the black community if Zimmerman is acquitted.

Oh no, I don't think it was racial. I meant did he intend to confront Trayvon or just follow him?

I am understanding that if Zimmerman was the "provacateur", "Stand Your Ground" would not apply in this case. BUT, if Martin was the first aggressor, Zimmerman can still stand with "Self-Defense".

Can a kid who is literally running away from an armed pursuer who is unequivocally chasing him or her for no reason be a first aggressor? What is the "Stand Your Ground" law if it is not the principle that you have the right to not have to be chased, but can in fact stand your ground?

Okay...I'm done with this thread again

tstew - you are still making a lot of assumptions.
1. Zim denies that he was chasing
2. Zim says that he lost Tray and headed back to his truck
3. The reason was the numerous robberies and home invasions that had happened in Twin Lakes and had been committed by black males
4. Zim states that he was attacked from behind by Tray. This would not be Tray "standing his ground".

I understand what Zim is saying now. However, he was advised not to follow just seconds after getting out of his truck. The location of the actual confrontation will speak volumes. If Zimmerman had agreed he would meet the officers by his truck and had been attacked by or in his truck, I would not be even talking about this. Let's just say then that if it is demonstrated that he did chase, we all agree he is liable and leave it at that.

Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

As someone recently testified before congress, people will stop "profiling" young black males as soon as young black males are no longer responsible for an incredible percentage of the crimes in the United States.

I wish Reverend Al and Reverend Jesse would spend as much time and energy promoting work ethic, family values, etc in the black community as they spend perpetuating he victim mentality.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
