I respectfully disagree (pun intended). Recognizing that someone is a human being is not respecting them. It is merely a biological matter. We can understand their place in God's order, that they have a soul, God loves them and we shoudl to, etc, etc but that is not the same as respect.
I do stand by the statement that I and others have made that respect is earned.
I have a relative that I love but have zero respect for as she is an alocholic who over the years has devolved to where she has zero conscience, zero morals, and will not help herself. She is a leech who drains everyone she is around (her loved ones) of their time and money if they will let her. This is an example of me saying that you can have zero respect for someone but still love them and care for them.
I completely agree. One can love without qualificaiton but respect must be earned.

Is there a line between the regular Joe's and Reverends that gives ministers liberty to rebuke regular Joe's?
Because I sure hope not.
Regular Joe's should be able to question ministry with out retribution or tagged with the intent to tear down or openly bash.
One should be able to question policies of certain groups with out being labeled anti- or hater or basher.
Certain members of Orgs or ministers should be able to read negative post about the "Barny Fifes" and "Bad Cops" of ministry with out taking it as an personal attack or hatred against Preachers or Orgs.

Well, I have seen some folk take direct exception to Brother Epley's comments about someone being lost. I have seen some pretty direct comments toward other ministers who have commented about trinitarians.
at the same time, I have personally taken exception to things you have said. Yesterday being an example.
as far as I know, the last person to be banned was a self described evangelist.
so no, I dont think some get away with more than others. I do think some people appear to get away with more because of how they post. you can say most anything if you say it the right way.
you can on the other hand get banned for saying something in the wrong manner.

"If" the FIRST thing people are more inclined to SEEK is acceptance from their peers, there is a catastrophic loss of opportunity in those who have the Spirit of God dwelling in their hearts.
Some thing has to supply the "earnest", the downpayment, the investment in good will toward all men; it is God's mercy, acceptance and love that bridges this gulf between members of mankind.
One of the greatest impediments to real faith is the desire for the affirmation of peers.
Jesus said this:
Jhn 5:44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that [cometh] from God only?
All of us appreciate the good will of our brethren, but there is a danger in becoming focused on that.
Jesus asked the rrhetorical question, "How can ye believe...?"

Brother Cooper,
From what I have read, it is probably the tenor and tone of your posts that some find objectionable, moreso than just the content thereof.
It also might have something to do with the rather consistent and narrow focus of your general emphasis.
Your posts often seem to have that "chip on the shoulder" flavor, and that generally gets a predictable result--someone is going to knock it off.
I believe everyone starts out here with the same level of respect. Whether that respect grows or deteriorates has everything to do with your conduct.
If you aren't receiving the respect you think you deserve, it may not be because of a bias of any kind--it might be a product of your own conduct and behavior.
If you perceive that some "get away with" things you wouldn't, it could be because their general character and manner has earned them a certain amound of leeway and respect.
You and only you decide how much respect you receive. It isn't a matter of position or affiliation.
There seem to be highly respected posters here from various points of view and places on the spectrum of the Apostolic movement. Your views don't sabotage you; your attitude does, if anything.

I think everyone is pretty much on level footing...but if I find out that someone is an elder, or elderly, or in a position of authority, I think I may want to tread around them more carefully...just the way I was raised I suppose.
