PCIers believe all of God's Word is a must ... praying, giving, fasting, praising, loving your neighbor, etc. ... we don't believe that baptism or the things aforementioned CAUSES salvation ... it's done as a result of it and a desire to love and please God.

Sherri can correct me if I'm wrong......but Daniel I don't think they think baptism is a MUST for salvation. I do. That's how we're buried with Him.

We don't have to literally re-enact the death, burial and resurrection for salvation to "kick in" ... the re-enactamentalists seem not to understand HE DID IT ONCE AND FOR ALL ... as the Word says .... that's the Good News of the Gospel
the burial in baptism is figurative .... a visual picture and a testament to WHAT HE DID ... not what I've done to deserve or cause salvation.

Point here.........
Baptism is essential but essential for what? I believe that baptism is salvational. I believe it's a must but I don't believe it brings about regeneration. You can go down in the water a wet sinner and come up a wet sinner if there hasn't been a regenerational work of the Holy Ghost that's already taken place in a person's life.

Your car doesn't break down because it shut off ... and is giving off smoke ... these are effects .... the cause could be plethora of things ... a broken hose, no oil, etc.
The doctrine of baptismal regeneration at its core states that the blood of Jesus is not applied and/or your sins are not washed away unless you are dunked in water and the officiator gets the formula right.

"Then they that gladly received, his word were baptized..." Acts 2:41
"But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and woman." Acts 8:12
To name a few..... for heavens' sake, Daniel, what are you trying to say?
It was just a good story?

Repentance? True Repentance? I believe the regenerational work of the Holy Ghost begins after you have truly repented.
And I don't believe you have to do that at an altar, for the record.

True belief causes a reaction ... simple. Yet, some believe that unless you go through the multi-step car wash you are not rapture ready ... or justified before God.
