Actually it would be a first one. We didn't go anywhere when we got married. We just came home. But we try to get away every so often for a few nights just to escape the craziness of life!!

Last week I was speaking with a friend and as we talked about old times at JCM, I remembered that many of the traits I possess today, I possessed back then...I just didn't realize it.

Many of the women I know, who are in the same position as I am...like myself, were 'trained' to be good, supportive wives to their spouse's ministries. The men just forgot that they were supposed be supportive of their wives also.

I think my post was also misunderstood by some..the same "some" who only see me through their worldview: My statement about 'success' was in reference to being financially self-supporting through the Bible College process. Most that I went to Bible College with were PK's who's parents paid their way so they could party and act out. Many, like myself worked 1-3 jobs to pay their way through. There were a few, the girls I remember were nurses or had training in medical records and could work a job pulling in good income to pay their school bill as well as have money for play.

While many of the married ministry couples sacrificed in home missions or evangelized...others were better prepared with their background and training to be better off financially. This in no wise is compared to success in the ministry itself.

I gave my youth to Christ and doing God's work. I gave my young adulthood into early middle age to ministry side by side with my EX-husband. I am giving my mature years also to Christ and ministry in the ways that God leads...this is all I know and want to know.

Love & Blessings, Sis. Rhoni
Rhoni,

I do believe that this is the case in many situations that I AM aware of. Women have given up their identities to support their husbands. A true man of God would want his wife to expand her territories as it is an extention of him...not a competition with him.

I am so glad you have overcome the past and continue to allow God to minister through you.

Respectfully, RES

Thanks for the kind words.I want God's will for my daughter. She is an awesome person and her whole life I have listened to God on how to raise and encourage her.She began last winter teaching a Sunday School Class. Not an assistant but a teacher. She also leads a division of the childrens church ministry and sings on the platform plus specials. She sang a special for our last District Youth Rally. This is just my opinion but I want her to enjoy her youth.

She does not have to strike out big at seventeen or eighteen.I think our young people are pressed by necessity sometimes into vocations that they are not suited for.I am willing to go for the long haul.I have a son who is a wonderful man.He is a Seabee in the Navy and getting ready to ship out to Japan. We were blessed to have him home for his last weekend available.God is good.

It would be so good if every young person had a chance to find the will of God for themselves and be supported through it.I know not all of them do.Some live for God and their families do not.I applaud everyone of them who stand for truth even though the odds stand against them.

In my own life none of my family was apostolic.I was the first one.My mom was converted,my dad,my cousin,my niece,my sister all as a result along with several other people.I was twenty two when the Lord called my name.My dad encouraged me to be all I could be and he and mother came when I preached and he attended the church we pastored even though he claimed to be catholic for years.God is good.

In thinking hard and praying about this subject I feel its my job as a mother to point my children in the right direction.I pray about what I feel is God's will for them while I am guiding them into the future.I feel if a young person is not encouraged and supported that they feel lost as to what the future holds.

Someone has to point the way to opportunity. For my young people I am that person.A mother trains you in many ways and its such a blessing to see your children walking in right paths.I hold their hands as long as they need me and let go when the time is right. Its the only thing I know to do.Birds have to fly.

We've had this discussion before and I still stand on the fact that no responsible parent would pay for their children to get 3-4 years of no education that will help their children take care of themselves.

I agree with Rhoni on this one. I would hate to pay for any college, expensive as it it and it not even be accredited. I like what GLU is doing and trying to get accredited. It would be wonderful to be able to send our kids to learn Bible and a profession at the same time. It would strengthen our own.

I view our colleges as more of a school of ministry. nothing wrong with training our youth who want to give their lives to the work of God. They know going in what the so called degree is.
I also think that the UPC needs to strive to have a real accredited college which I think they are doing

Exactly Thad. And if one is going into fulltime ministry, the Bible Colleges are there to prepare them.

My daughter wanted to go to a certain Bible College to be in a christian environment - but at the moment, she is not going into ministry, per se. She is a communications major so we chose a Church of God University that would cover both areas. She will get that degree. Everyone minors in Religious Studies. If she decides that she does want to pursue ministry she can add more ministry classes to her schedule to prepare her for that area of her life too.

I firmly believe that everything they need to prepare them...is right there in their local church. If they have regular meetings with their pastor and their pastor gives them certain responsibilities....I think there is enough to prepare them under the watchful eye of the pastor.

I agree. And while preparing for ministry the individual can go to a local college and get an education that leads to employment to support his /her ministry

Tamor,

I did the same thing...gave me the best of both worlds. I went to a Wesleyan University which prepared me for integrating my Christian beliefs into my counseling systems.

Tabitha loves it. She goes to Lee University and just finished her freshman year. It was not what she wanted because she wanted to go to Christ for the Nations in Dallas. But now she wouldn't trade it for anything.
