ive tested it. a wooden bat, swung as hard as I can will always drop the ball right over the first basemans head, well in front of the right fielder. i cant bat 1.000 with a woodenbat! hee hee.

PP, don't fall for the better equipment pitch! I bought new golf clubs because they supposedly were more balanced and had a bigger sweet spot. Well, the ball still goes to the same place (woods), but it feels better going there!

I played competitive softball for years A-comp. I spent hundreds of dollars on bats and the rest of the stuff. Once in a while we would drop down and enter a tournament just to crush every team and get a nice t-shirt.
Kind of funny, we had a city wide church tournament a few years ago, and it was pretty competitive. At the end of the day...get this...I won the "Apostolic Home Run King" trophy when it was all said and done.
It is still on my mantle gathering dust as my knees still hurt walking around on a cold floor.
Cheater!
I remember when bomb bats were all the rage. Then it was the long handled, thick barreled jobbers. Now they are up to $400 and weigh virtually nothing.
Honestly, do aluminum bats vary from each other that much?

I bought a new glove this weekend for an ungodly amount of money. You think it will make me a better fielder?

Absolutely! The DiMarrini double walled bats are illegal as are a few others.
I have 4 bats that when I bought them new were almost $200 each. Now they are beat up pretty good and almost useless in a competition sense. For a church game they are still pretty good.
I could tell you some hilarious stories about the "church" league team that Marvin Poole started going for us when he was here.
