The bill AS WRITTEN IN THE HOUSE and the bill AS WRITTEN before Wilson's comments created a path to coverage for Illegal immagrants .
WITHOUT QUESTION the bill provided coverage.
Right now the bill in the senate provides language to require proof of legal status. HOWEVER the dems in the House have not added such language.
That means that once the bills pass, the dems in the conference commettee will get to decide without a further vote.
I have answerd the question. The bill DID cover illegals by not excluding them and by not requireing they provide any proof of citizenship.
You refuse to answer because you know he did not lie. The bill that we are discussing HR3200 has no provision to cover illegals. Republicans are using this issue as a smoke screen to kill health care reform.
I am all for proving citizen ship to participate in health care but will the right even accept a birth certificate?
A wise attorney once told me I will let you write the bill if I get to write the definitions. By not defining how they will keep from funding medical care for immigrants they are in fact providing it, regardless of meaningless verbiage.

The phrase "general walfare" does not mean entitlement or handout.

sorry for being blunt and brutal, but i didn't have all that many kind words for Mr Bush either as I am not a republican, but rather a libertarian/constitutionalist.
I sincerely believe Obama is one of the greatest threats the republic has ever faced, because of:
his communist worldview
his ties to organized crime
his deep ties to a "community" organization that exercised voter fraud in promoting his candidacy and more recently offered free helpful advice in setting up a child prostitution ring on the federal dime.
his ties to a known terrorist with an anti American agenda
his long term relationship with an anti-american, racist pastor.

I pray that everything obama tries to do turns to dust and ashes. I pray that him and all his cronies fall to complete ruin. I do not wish him or his physical harm, but I hope that his administration is such a complete political disaster that both parties are forever broken.

Are you aware of what a preamble is? Congress has no rights from the preamble, the preamble is WE THE PEOPLE, not WE THE CONGRESS. Congress gets its power from Article I of the Constitution. If it isn't in Article I they don't have the authority to do it.

As has already been pointed out promoting the general welfare is not a something for Congress to do but rather is done by we the people when we establish the Constitution.

It's really annoying for someone to call a person a hypocrite (it's ok to call non-persons hypocrites I guess) cause everyone has issues and has acted against their self proclaimed life style. No one's really exempt. Most people in high positions will go after their own goals anyways, who's gonna stop them? Maybe talk radio.

I know what a preamble is. Section 8 OF THE Constitution confirms what the preamble out lines. Men on both sides of the isle who have been lawyers for many years agree that you TENNERS don't have a leg to stand on.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and
Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be
uniform throughout the United States;
All "general welfare" means constitutionally is that each citizen has the right to life, liberty, the persuit of happiness and protection from enemies foreign and domestic.
It does not guarantee the citizenry a free ride on any level.redistribution of wealth is decidedly UNconstitutional.
When and if the government takes control of the healthcare industry does anyone really think they will stop there?

Funny because some of the top Constitutional lawyers in DC have already prepared lawsuits to challenge its constitutionality. Common defense and general welfare are tied together. General welfare does not mean what you are trying to stretch it into. It is not, nor has it historically ever been, about the redistribution of wealth. Show me one bill where Congress has relied on their power to promote the general welfare in order to spend.
