I highly doubt that getting out of the UPC "saved" your marriage..... you had problems while you were in the UPC and probably had problems after you left.... if your marriage improved, it was because you and your partner finally worked together to fix it....
you were never married to a congregation; don't fool yourself in trying to pin your marriage problems on any church.... UPC or not....
