Rhoni, grow up a little and take a look around you and REACH OUT to the hurting. They aren't going to come walking to you. You have to go to them.

I'll post more later.

Admin, I think she needs an infraction for that.

Rhoni--
If your first post was meant TIC, you would have saved yourself a lot of headache if you would have incorporated some smilies. People took it very seriously - that you are wanting a change in your life and missions work just sounded very exciting and drama-filled.

I love you, girl, but you kind of brought this on yourself.

Re: The REASON I want to be a missionary...

I have learned that SOME TIMES (not always) a person changes locations, jobs and even relationships because they get caught in some kind of unsavory situation and feel like it's best to move on to another area.

Re: The REASON I want to be a missionary...

I am obviously a proponent of foreign missions and know how difficult a calling it can be and I have tremendous respect for those who truly devote their lives to the mission field. Just remember, though, that there is a tremendous mission field right here in America. There is a tremendous need in our cities for the very same things that you would be doing in Africa, Asia, South America, Europe, or anywhere else. Don't be intimidated by the idea that noone is hungry. You would be surprised at how many people are looking for a better way. Particularly when you are open to the voice and leading of the Holy Ghost. God has a way of bringing the wanting people if you show yourself to be a willing worker.
The devil will try to get you to sit around and think about doing the things that are not possible in order to keep you from doing the things that are readily doable...Kind of a paralysis by analysis. I say get busy right here in Texas because the harvest is ripe but the laborers are few.

FTR

This was not directly at anyone in particular, but was merely an observation.

Sis. CS,

If I hadn't apologized I might agree with you. Besides, I work a 50 hour work week counseling substance abuse clients in the state of Kansas...so I guess I do reach out to the hurting every day. I am not totally without usefulness.

Blessings, Rhoni

Re: The REASON I want to be a missionary...

WOW! It seems to me that this thread was starting by someone that is in need of some compassion and encouragement. And for the most part, not all of you, but most of the comments unmercifully attacked this person. I don't know any of you and to tell you the truth I'm not sure I would want to.
