I have a better question. Is it wrong for a veteran that has been disabled to receive VA benefits due to their disabilities? Is that the same as suing?
Don't see the comparison.

So suing in court to gain an unlawful loss is wrong, we should trust God but going to criminal court to punish someone is ok?
I'd say it's up to the individuals convictions.
But I believe Jesus taught what we should do as Christians. Remember, holiness ( or Christlikeness) is more than a dress code, church attendance, "bang clang" music, and a hairstyle.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. Proverbs 20:22

How much is being a Christian worth?
Is that what it comes down to? Are you saying you can't be a (real) Christian, if you sue someone, contrary to the scriptures you (and I ) posted? Is that part of the "cost" you talk about?
Can you buy salvation? If not, then why talk about its cost?

How much is being a Christian worth?
So one shouldn't press criminal charges if one hurts them or their family?

Every individual should choose what's right for themselves, only God can judge.
