Don't let White fool you. He hit the taxpayers pocketbooks pretty hard. He is into a LOT or government regulations.

Including showing favorites as to which tow companies could tow cars in certain areas.

SHE took herself down. SHE did it without any help from anyone else.

There was no hit piece. there was no report about her. there was no person stepping forward to say she had done something wrong.

SHE used her own words and distroyed her own political career.
That sums it up.

“This ad is selective in its facts, and the omissions are designed to mislead.” – The Dallas Morning News
In a new television ad called “Tough Decisions,” Rick Perry touts his moves to cut taxes and spending. It pictures him on a Main Street setting, then touring a construction sight and concludes that because of his decisions, Texas “is the best place to do business.” But several of the claims are distorted:

THE CLAIM: “I vetoed more than $3 billion in spending.”

THE FACTS: He’s counting about $2.5 billion that he ceremonially vetoed -- it was contingency money linked to bills that the Legislature did not approve. Most of the “cuts” were appropriations for nixed bills, discontinued agencies and federal money that eventually had to be repaid.

In many of the statements he issued upon vetoing the money, Perry stated that his veto was merely procedural. So in most cases, he is counting as cuts money that never would have been spent. (For more on this claim, take a look at this Heat Index item from January

Who is "ICYMI"?
If that is a blog, I would assume the "ICYMI" would mean, "In case you missed it".

Since we are following Trailblazers Heat Index, we also have three red hot peppers for Medina, just to be fair. LOL!

Quote:
THE CLAIM: Debra Medina said Texas has only had a net gain of jobs recently only because of a surge in public-sector jobs. "We've lost jobs in the private sector," she said.

THE FACTS: Medina rattled off figures without saying what time period they apply to, so her claims are impossible to check. But she didn't dent Rick Perry's claim of job growth between November 2007 and November 2008. Of the more than 126,000 jobs created in Texas then, about 94,000 were with private employers and about 32,000 were in the government, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

BOTTOM LINE: Medina's contention that government growth fueled job creation is suspect, and while Perry narrowed in on a period when Texas' economy was red hot, the private sector did account for 75 percent of new jobs.

I'm not from Texas but I sure wouldn't want to vote for her after reading some of her statements from the Glenn Beck show.

White's opponent may have shot himself in the foot when he said whites don't want to work in factories unless they are boss.

I certainly don't mean to belabor the point here, but these articles have very relative elements to them.
Quote:
Medina: Politics as usual

It's further evidence that those attracted to Medina by the debates, but feeling like they know little else about her, owe it to themselves do some homework prior to casting a ballot for her.

Medina learned an important lesson about politics and flip-flopping as a result of the Beck interview. The rest of us should have relearned an important lesson about doing our homework prior to heading to the polls.

Medina tax swap proposal comes at a cost
Critics say eliminating all property taxes would reduce local control.

But critics say the freedom Medina promises would come at a huge cost to local taxpayers because they would lose a critical element of control over the governments closest to them.

Padgitt said there is an economic advantage of a broad, low-rate sales tax because it spreads the tax burden and doesn't unduly influence consumers' decision-making.

But applying the tax to too many business-to-business transactions might lead to a "tax pyramid" where taxes paid at every stage of production are rolled into the final consumer price — and then taxed again.

The Texas Public Policy Foundation study found that an average sales tax rate of 14.5 percent could raise enough to equal all the property and sales tax collections without changing what is now taxed. Applying the tax to more services and to real estate sales would allow a lower tax rate of 9 percent.

Oliveira said the foundation's research is based on outdated figures that reflect a period of healthy economic growth. After a precipitous decline in sales over the past year, collecting enough money now would require a tax rate as high as 21 percent , the lawmaker said.

This is so important for the Tea Party Movement
Quote:

Debra Medina — A Tea Party Cautionary Tale

I’m not going to go so far as to claim Medina is a troofer. She is, I think, merely a panderer and demagogue who has seized upon the Tea Party movement as a means to achieve elective office. It is cheap, tawdry, banal, pedestrian, and a whole string of similar adjectives.

She will not be the GOP nominee but it points to a larger issue. The Tea Party movement has to decide whether it wishes to be a footnote in books on the 2010 election or a long term influence on American politics. If the objective is the latter then the multitude of Tea Party organizations can’t afford to be hijacked by troofers, birfers, or whatever. This is not an easy task given the lack of organization structure but it is critical if the movement is not to be successfully labeled fringe.

Re: Debra Medina Shakes Up GOP Governor Race In Te

I'll say it again, Glenn Beck is an idiot. A paid political hack.

Tell me what relevance the question has to anything this woman will be doing as governor? Who cares if she questions the government ... after all, doesn't Glenn Beck demand now that citizens question their government and make their government be responsible for its actions?

It was a stupid question. Beck said he got it from an email ... probably from someone connected to the Perry campaign who was hoping to knock her out of the race.

This question would NOT affect my vote, if I lived in TX. I would be more concerned about state issues, budget, taxes, etc than I would be about some conspiracy junk.

Medina hasn't lost any fans on Facebook. She has, in fact, gained an additional two thousand. Rick has picked up an additional two thousand as well.

Nonetheless, in this interview she is not telling the truth.

Scroll down almost halfway to "videos" and the clip is called, "Medina answers questions".

http://www.chron.com/

On the clip, she is saying that what she heard or understood was that Glen is asking her if people should be questioning the government and she is saying, yes, they should.

This is the exact question and answer from the Beck show:

GLENN: Right. Here's then let me be more frank and ask you the question: Do you believe the government was any way involved with the bringing down of the World Trade Centers on 9/11?

MEDINA: I don't, I don't have all of the evidence there, Glenn. So I don't. I'm not in a place, I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all of the evidence there. So I've not taken a position on that.

GLENN: I think the people of America might think that might be a yes.

Glenn asks if she thinks the government was in any way involved on 9/11 and Media says, "I've not taken a position on that."

How plain of a YES is there? She is lying in the video. Plain and simple.

If you are on her side on this, then I would suspect that you are also a "truther".
