Most of our Liberal posters take warnings and infractions in stride with either an apology in return or a 'I will do better' attitude.
Most of our Conservative members get offended and leave in a huff!
I just don't get it?!?

Again, as it has already been mentioned, the more conservative among us, from a pure dogma sense, are simple not used to being challenged. The threat of rebellion as the ultimate sin as kept the masses in line and the phrase "obey them" is a catch all which superseded anything that is extra-scriptural. In other words, it may not be scriptural but if the "man of God" says it then we are to do it anyways lest we fall into "rebellion". In the online world, those threats are revealed for the smoke and mirrors they are and suddenly they are left with no authority.
AS for those who leave and STAY gone, at least for a good amount of time, I have more respect for them then those who announce they are leaving then proceed to bask in the praise of those who try to convince them to stay.
An example: (And it helps to imagine William Shatner/Kirk's voice)
"Please! Don't leave! We are..... stronger with you.... then..... without you!"
