But, when a player makes a dazzling 98 yard kickoff return for a touchdown, does the coach get credit? No way!
The announcers say stuff like, "Man, that guy is incredible, I've never seen moves like that, he may be the greatest kickoff returner in the history of the game", blah blah blah.
No announcer says, "Man, that coach really taught that kid how to run a kickoff back!".
My point is, the president gets blamed for everything that goes wrong, all the way down to the Hurricane Katrina disaster! But, a month ago, or so, when Gustav came along, and the city was much more prepared, did Bush get credit for that? NO WAY!
It was the new governor, and the new FEMA director, etc. And, when the Republican convention delayed it's start because of Gustav, they're accused of pandering and grandstanding!
Now, why in the world would anyone want that job? It's beyond me!

Yes, but using your analogy, the American people are the team owner and ultimately it is their money, well-being, and future on the line. Instead of running the franchise, we have somehow become spectators who are frustrated with the direction of the team.

Maybe it's time some of the players are traded, instead of the coach.

once again, I like McCains approach.
After reading what happened, this was clearly a political stunt by John McCain to try to gain ground and an issue he's behind on with the American people. Obama wanted to issue a joint statement with McCain supporting a bailout plan with oversight included.
Republicans like Richard Shelby, Jim Bunning, and Chuck Hagel don't need John McCain looking over their shoulder to fix the banking crisis.
Again, given his past history on financial issues, John McCain isn't exactly a trusted voice on the issue.
I think it was a smart move by McCain politcally on the surface given the beating he's taking on the economy issue in the polls, but we'll have to see how it works out for him.

Yes, McCain has proven himeself to put country first. We still do not know who Obama is. His party has not properly vetted him and the media is in the tank for him and has given him "soft" questions.

I think McCain has been a very misunderstood person in a lot of ways, JMO.
Sorry, should have clarified - Obama voted AGAINST both Roberts and Alito. McCain was for them, if memory serves.
