As you can tell Steve P, Ultra conservative folk get all disjointed when you question their belief system. Principles is what we are asking not the worst that can happen if you don't do as I say...
just gets on my last nerve sometimes.

Bro. Eastman...was it the "prom" that was the problem or could it possibly be that the parents didn't instill values in their children and allowed too much unsupervised time after the event?

The first time my friend tried pot was after a service at Midwinter Youth Retreat when they weren't supervised.

My wife and I were highschool sweethearts. I loved our prom. I can still remember how it felt to hold her and dance, the sent of the perfume she was wearing (California), and how I knew then this was the girl I wanted to hold forever. We danced and had punch. Laughed with friends and posed for pictures. It was great.

Afterwards her parents had an "after prom party" where we hung out until all our friends went home. I lived in the ghetto and my mom didn't care where I was and her parents felt it safer for me to just stay there after everyone went home because it was so late. They let me sleep in their finished basement. I remember feeling like I was dreaming. I felt so safe, respected, welcomed, and cared for. Her parents took me in like I was part of the family.

So, just out of curiousity, if you married your high school sweetheart, where did you gain all of your experience walking into clubs and kissing strange girls?

That's a fair question.

We graduated high school and my wife went to Ohio State to study music education. I joined the military (Army National Guard). It was the only way I could find money for college and it gave me the opportunity to serve my country. Most of my "adventurous exploits" were in Ft. Knox KY and San Antonio TX (Fort Sam) when off duty. After my training I was assigned to an Ohio Army National Guard unit and got a job as a Thereputic Programming Assistant. I had two ATs where just the guys got out and hit the clubs. But me and her still stayed in touch. She wasn't happy at OSU and her grades were suffering. In hind sight she believes that the class load for a music major was just too much for her. She came home and got a job at the pet store. I had been trying to get my life back on track and returned to the Apostolic church we both had started going to when in HS. She grew spiritually cold while at OSU and was happy about returning to our original church too. It was now over two years since we had graduated highschool and we started thinking about the future as we were getting rooted in the church. We decided that we should get married. And originally we just wanted a small ceremony in the Pastors office...but his wife (still brings tears to my eyes) refused. She felt we needed a real wedding. We had no money so they went ALL OUT and the church planned our entire wedding. All her parents paid for was the cake. We were married over 8 years before having our little boy.

That's the story in a nutshell.
