Well, when you add the omnipotent thing, it really doesn't. He's God, he can do anything, so I think it wouldn't have been that difficult for him to come to earth, without having to sacrifice entire nations.

So it leaves me with a few options. Either God isn't good. Or, God committing mass slaughter is somehow a good thing and I just can't see it. Or (and for me the most likely) is that the Bible was written by men, and we all know that men aren't past putting God's name on their own ideas.

Well Sherri, as I learned yesterday, there are apparently some who not only don't love me, but don't think I have anything of interest to say. But I am really really really glad that you are not one of them!!!

so MOE,
do you think there is any one who posts on this board that does NOT have some other poster (or lurker) that feels the same way about them.

I presently have three folks on IGNORE. Could those folks say exactly what you said --concerning my lack of interest in what they say? Sure, but its also a very practical thing that serves BOTH SIDES.

Why not purpose to stop carrying any dead bodies on your back and then celebrate God's provision of folks that really appreciate you....and please be open to consider that I am one of them.

The remarks of genocide and God being love can easily and logically be reconciled (not that I think that they were in opposition in the first place). God is love. God is righteous judge of the whole earth. Niether one of these aspects of God denies or changes the other. God has given all nations a light (conscience). He is longsuffering (a product of love) and wishes that all should repent. If people become stubborn and generation after generation become more corrupt, God rightfully allows judgement. Those nations that were judged lived horrid lives.

This explanation can be continued even to a more common example: Man being father and judge -- his son's best friends get in a lot of trouble. Etc., Etc.

There are always answers. REMEMBER THERE IS THEREFORE NO CONDEMNATION TO THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS. If you previously felt condemnation, I can tell you that this was not inspired of God.

Before yesterday I didn't have anyone on ignore. I believed that everyone had a right to speak and be heard, regardless of my personal feelings towards them.

Where is Brad when I need him? He is MUCH better at explaining the absurdity of God punishing people for their sinful nature (which they have no control over), and for not following his laws (which they had no knowledge of).

It's like executing a feral child raised by wolves for not knowing how to use silverware!

If you are able to discern a pattern that your spirit is consistently wearied by someone's words, wisdom says ignore them. It's not about their right to be heard, that is a given. It's about your responsibility NOT TO BE OVERTAKEN by their offences or their purpose to make your their disciple.

The amazing thing is the folks you may need to ignore are not just all EGOMANICAL LOUD MOUTHS...Romans 16 provides another quality or type we should be mindful of...
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple

using GOOD WORKS
and
FAIR SPEECHES

these folks deceive the hearts of the simple.

Do you deny that we have a conscience? I know you do not. God judges these people and can rightly do so because He has given them a conscience. Those nations practiced child sacrifice.

An analogy is only as strong as how well it corresponds to the object of comparison. A pack of wolves = Conscience NAAAAAHHHHHHH!

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

I think the analogy would have to ask -----a feral child; possesses a God conscience or not?

The consequence of the father's sin upon the circumstances that his children will be surrounded by is a real bummer.

For ALL of us, our only hope is a new birth that breaks the lineage of transgressors who are reaping what they have sown because of the field their father's left them.
