Thank you brother for that eloquent illlustration of my sentiments!
Great pic, and exactly how I have felt for nigh on 10yrs now!
Such a merciful GOD deserves so much more than I can give, (or give UP) but I do try.

There are sites to swap or resell gift cards. I would not buy a Free AOL disk at BB.

Our focus is on Jesus and our desire is towards His will.

Lord bless you and your family in 2008.

I cannot bring myself to put it all away yet. We had a first-time ever Norman Rockwell Christmas. Kind of want to hold on to it a while.

We spent Christmas Eve with Bro. and Sis. Chandler, and Bro. Jellison and had a wonderful time. The highlight of our evening was delivering food baskets though.

Our church has really been focused on ministering to the needy this year, so we decided to do food baskets. We are a small church so this was not a real big project but yet from the heart of everyone. We had eight names for baskets. We had all of the baskets ready to go. Well we had some baskets left to deliver so Christmas Eve, my husband, myself and our pastor set out to deliver. We could not find one family, which created somewhat of a problem, because the basket had a thawed turkey in it that needed to be cooked.

Well, a few days earlier I was on a computer repair call with my husband. I am sitting in the driveway waiting for him. When my eyes spot a lady and her little girl going in the house next door. Immediately I felt the Holy Ghost speak to me that she was in need. It was so overwhelming, I was crying. However, I thought I was just being emotional do to the season and kind of ignored it. After all, we have eight food baskets and eight names.

Back to the Christmas Eve delima. The pastor asks, "What are we going to do with this food basket? It is ten o'clock at night." Well, again I feel the prompting of the Holy Ghost to take it to that lady. We all wondered if we should go to a strangers door that late. We agreed we should.

Sooooo...up to the door I go. I knock and the lady answers with the two little girls at her side. I tell her, "Ma'am you are going to think that I am crazy but our church put together food baskets and I felt in the Holy Ghost that you are in need, so we are here with the basket and turkey." Tears start streaming down her face. Her aunt who lives with her says, "Are you serious? You are not going to believe this! I lost my purse yesterday with all of our money for groceries and Christmas in it. We have no food in the house for Christmas Dinner." I cannot tell the joy that I felt at that moment. That was the best Christmas present that I ever gave or received.

I remember when my uncle was overseas at Christmas time. My grandmother left her tree up until MARCH with his Christmas Presents under them. THAT was a fun Christmas "quarter"! LOL

I remember my grandmother doing this also when my uncle was in Vietnam - it was July when he was discharged!

Sis. Jill--
When we drove to Indiana for Christmas, we went through Greenfield and then went by Dale, so I thought of y'all twice! Hope you had a great Christmas!

If you needed deliverance from Christmas paraphernalia and come on a thread like this to crow about this so-called "deliverance", sounds like you got heckuva lot bigger problems than putting up decorations and wreaths.
