My sister and I were talking last night about how really scarey our church had gotten at one point. After the very dictorial preacher died we got in a new preacher. I am not kidding about this....... he brought in almost a sexual devil? He tore so many families apart due to affairs. Then other men in church started acting weird...flirting with other women who were not there wives.... some of the women were flirting with other men. I was about 20 at the time and my sister 15 and it was almost like we were the only ones who noticed this. The church board finally kicked the preacher out but he went on to have more affairs as the Org to this day still does nothing about it. Last I heard he was still contining to preach, destroy families and stay in the UPC.

Amen Esther. I have heard many things...but nothing on the scale of Sis. B. My word! It truly is amazing she did not get disillusioned and left because of this abuse.

The Murphy's have always had each other for check and balance on the net.

Not a bad idea.

I don't think the entire District was as bad as this, but the post by Beezer said there are even WORSE men.

Charles Grisham wrote a small piece called "The Gladiator Complex in the Ministry>" Sad they don't teach against that subject, or the types of rule show in this thread.

Amazing that YES these things do happen in Jesus Name churches in America.

This is something I do NOT understand does headquarters have no authority, and if not what use are they. I know that when we had our terrible separation, we went to the district presbyter and there was nothing he could do either. The first family that finally was brave enough to go to him, he didn't believe it could be true...but after several more complaints he finally decided there was something to it...not that he could change anything, which makes me laugh...what does the organization do really, except have a main place to send money and have a big conference each year!

The sad thing is that it is not an easy thing to recover from, that is if you even want to recover. As I found when I through the baby out with the bathwater, is that I don't miss the baby at all.

It is a hard thing to get over...but you can...it will never go away but it does get better with time...I can even go out in my town now and not be afraid of running into anyone from that church...for a long time it made me nervous now I know they think I am backslid and living in sin so I don't care, because I know, the Lord knows and the people I love and care about know...so that is all that matters to me!
