Wow!

Speaks volumes.

My pursuit of holiness is focussed on Jesus Christ, not on my brother and sister or even this world. The Bible speaks against "comparing yourselves among yourselves."

I think that verse is applicable here.

Exactly. Let's address the REAL "spirit" at work in this thread. It's not about Christmas or a tree. It's about some of our brethren being so insecure in their own faith that they feel they must constantly compare themselves to others and look down upon them to feel..."holy".

Well if I strive, as the good book tells me I should do, to be holy as Christ is holy, I will probably be more holy than somebody else. I can't help it.

Puritans did it before the UPCI was formed. The Puritans outlawed xmas before any of the framers of the UPCI bylaws were born.

Cast away Christ? You're being ridiculous now, so now if someone doesn't celebrate xmas they are casting away Christ.

Interesting and all is in the Bible, but celebrating the birth of Christ, or His baptism, or his crucifixion with festivals we have NO SUCH TEACHING.

You borrowed it all from the Catholics.

Hey, look at it this way, it just makes the transition easier when you finally return.

Christ had the sternest rebuke against the self righteous Pharisees and Sadducees.

I will say again, my knees have never bowed before a Christmas tree. I would love to stay longer here but I have christmas cookies baking in the oven. I bakes them early and puts them in the freezer.

Are you against celebrating birthdays?

The Bible doesn't command it...nor does it condemn it. The Bible doesn't command us to set aside a day to remember Christ's birth; but does it condemn the concept?
