I must be confused.
What is it that some agree with and some don't.
My understanding is that you were speaking of what Jesus said when he said...
Quote:
Mat 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mat 16:28 "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."
Some scholars believe this was fulfilled in the next chapter.
Mat 17:1 Six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves.
Mat 17:2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.

Wow... I've never heard that one before. That looks more like the Son of Man going than the son of man coming. Do you feel that the scriptures you quoted above are the coming of the Son of Man?
Do you feel that any of the following scriptures are speaking of a different event than the others? Or do you feel like the coming of the son of man is the coming of the son of man each time it is spoken of.

Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mar 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Mar 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Don't let the English language fool you. The Greek has more than one meaning.
er'-khom-ahee
Middle voice of a primary verb (used only in the present and imperfect tenses, the others being supplied by a kindred [middle voice] word, ἐλεύθομαι eleuthomai or ἔλθω elthō; which do not otherwise occur); to come or go (in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively): - accompany, appear, bring, come enter, fall out, go, grow, X light, X next, pass, resort, be set.

So when the Bible speaks of the son of man coming in his kingdom... do you feel that it was the ascension that was being spoken of?
In other words... do you feel that the ascension is the coming of the son of man in his kingdom?

It depends on the context and how the word is used. You are trying to compare two different words. The Greek word for ascension has a completely different meaning then the word coming.
an-al'-ape-sis From G353; ascension: - taking up.
er'-khom-ahee coming

My apologies for the misunderstanding.
I wasn't speaking about the actual word ascension...
I mentioned the ascension because the scriptures you mentioned as being what the Coming of the Son of Man in his Kingdom (per some scholars) could be referring to (provided below) are, indeed, speaking of the ascension... correct?

Define "Kingdom"

Are you inferring that Matt 17:1,2 is speaking about ascension?

"Coming in his kindgom" can mean that He comes in the power of His authority.
