Interesting- This is a dead link directly off the search results from UPCI.org

http://www.mediamissions.com/

http://www.myhoperadio.com has sermons for 3 min sampling or $1.99 download.....

1974 and 1976, but not 1977

I dislike the way this resolution was written last year, and do think it needs to be rejected for the same reasons. I see the "Keyboard Quarterbacking" is a moot point to those who do not have a vote (sorry Ferd). The technology amendment is dated and the real task is to update what is there, not remove something from 1950/1977/1992/2000/2006/2007.

I am curious if we are really prepared for TV Ads when we cannot get Overhead at GC, or Internet ads in place yet.

oloroid

That is OK BOOM. i did say I agreed with Crackjack on this one. Guess I could have taken that some place else.

I wont argue the points of the current TV situation here as I think Steadfast was pointing to a much deeper issue. that of the fellowship and the hope that we can find a way to stay together like we did 30 years ago after ME's sermon.

I wonder if God wanted the UPCI together then if he has changed his mind?

As much as we may not agree on the TV issue, for me, the fellowship is still more important, even if I dont have a vote.

the most interesting thing about ME is that the man is truely a conservitive. He preaches a strong holiness message (in the traditional sense) and he has a strong church. BUT he has very close fellowship with men who are much less conservitive than himself.

ME has found a way to be what the UPCI was supposed to be. I wish the rest of us could find that.

I hope they have 10,000 Merrill Ewings at GC this year! Men that aren't threatening to leave if they don't get their way! Men that are tolerant of others that may not see eye to eye with them. Men that weep at the thought of "splitting the baby". Men that aren't going to GC looking for a fight!

I believe Brother Ewing is a conservative. He is, after all, an Apostolic minister. He seems to be the same as he was 30-40 years ago. Just older, and probably not as able to do what he once did.

I REALLY miss him not leading song service at LA campmeeting!

Amen!

I believe those that did leave in 1977-78 (?), Pianoman, left of their own accord. I suppose because they didn't get their way.

Bro M Ewing is a great man of God....
He did an excellent job at FPC Jackson the day that Chris Craft was elected as pastor...

I do not want to "divide the baby", but I fear that "somebody dropped the baby" a long time ago....

I heard a UPC pastor preach a message once entitled "Kill the Baby"

He talked about a man who controled a draw bridge for a train who had an only son....said the guy loved the son to the utmost....one day he took the son to work...during the midst of getting busy he lost track of the son...the boy started playing in the gears of the draw bridge....he called for his son to move, but an oncoming train's blowing whistle drowned out his screams...he was stook with a delimma....save his son or sacrifice his son and save a train load....he choose to save the trainload...

If you're referring to Phillips/Hanby, they had no other choice but to leave! Their type of evangelism would not be tolerated within the UPC. So in essense, you are correct because they left when they didn't get their way.

If only the UPC body had shown a little toleration and let them 'experiment' on a test basis, maybe they could have salvaged two of the greatest UPC preachers of that time!

You know,Pianoman, I was at that conference. The tv issue was without doubt, the talk of the meeting. And even back then, I remember asking my husband....what on earth could preaching the gospel on tv hurt? Wouldn't that help get it into all the world? But it was voted down, and I trusted the men and women who had the power to do so. Much prayer and fasting had gone on prior to the conference.
