As for Sunday, I have a little something in the oven that I think might preach a little.

Thanks for the kind words, incidentally.
Yupper! I got me one once. Taken with a grain of salt, the Ol' Bull went down pretty easy.

Hearing the Voice of God

Yet 1 Sam 3:7 says that he did not yet know the Lord nor was the word of YHWH yet revealed to him.
But, God spoke to him.
My opinion is that children, even though they might not have made a personal commitment to Jesus, can be more sensitive to the Lord, can "see" Him, and can even hear His voice. That may be one of the reasons Jesus told us to become like little children.

Speaking of Timothy. I like the verse in Paul's writings to Timothy where he speaks of the unfeigned or sincere faith of Timothy which dwelt first in his grandmother Lois and then in his mother Eunice (2 Tim 1:5). Also where Paul mentions that "from a child you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Jesus Christ" (2 Tim 3:15). In The Living Bible, that last verse reads, "You know how, when you were a small child, you were taught the holy Scriptures; and it is these that make you wise to accept God's salvation by trusting in Christ Jesus." Verses 14-17 in The Message read: "But don't let it faze you. Stick with what you learned and believed, sure of the integrity of your teachers --why, you took in the sacred Scriptures with your mother's milk! There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another --showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."

Bro. Sam,

Very good! I didn't see this until after I had posted my "long" post.

Sounds like our thoughs were running in similar channels, LOL!!

Blessings,

Sister,

I am not given to superfluous flattery, but you are on the short list of people on this forum that impress me most, and whom I wish I knew better in real life.

Lots of good thoughts. I would characterize God's voice as a thought above my thought and a deep impression that supersedes your own.

I went through a hard spiritual trial at one time. I was lying on the living room floor and I felt my body go in and out like an accordion. Only way to describe that. And then I heard God's voice, audibly - "I will be with you."

He was teaching me the difference in the direction/voice of the enemy and His direction/voice.

A valuable lesson that has been useful in subsequent years, although I was scared to death through some of it.

Being "mentored by the best" doesn't insure that a person will remain on the right track, because even "the best," whoever they are, cannot purify your own heart and ambitions.

Go read Isaiah 58...if your prayer and fasting and pursuit of the things of God is "to make your voice heard on high," it is not a fast He chose.

The pure-hearted seeker will not fall into deception.

What you say is very true. I can not really say what her motive was.

And it was the first time I had heard there was a fine line that could be crossed over that easy.

But I am still learning, just a novice here.
