Again, I'm not supporting Newt for president any more than I am Romney.
But, Newt wasn't lying about Crist. Stuart Stevens, Romney's chief strategist was also Charlie Crist's chief strategist during Crist's Senate run against Rubio. He also advised Crist on his runs for attorney general, governor and later U.S. Senate. Other top Crist aides are managing Romney's campaign.
The interesting thing is that Steven's firm, Stevens & Schriefer, focuses on electing "moderates". More interesting is that Romney has called himself "a moderate with views that are progressive." Rubio can call Romney a Conservative all day long. He isn't really.
I don't see a lie here with Gingrich.
And I don't see Gingrich lying on the anti-immigration comment toward Romney. Here is a quote from DeeDee Blase, founder of Somos Republicans in Arizona, "Romney is done. He'll be lucky to get 8 percent of the Hispanic vote" after saying he would veto legislation that would create a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants and accepting the endorsement of anti-immigration activist Kris Kobach, architect of two of the strongest immigration crackdown laws in the country."
We do have a huge problem with illegal immigration in this country, but Gingrich is right, this country is not going to deport people who have been here for 25 years. And I don't think they will do that for people being here 15 years.
I do like Rick Santorum, although he has a terrible record on spending.
The young people are aligning with Ron Paul because they said they are tired of being lied to. I am understanding that some of his supporters are registering as Romney people, getting on the delegate list and will tip in his favor when the votes come in. That should be interesting. LOL!
Anyway, after all of that, I would like to ask where Marco Rubio is when Newt asked Romney to pull his ads on the ethic charges that are false. Romney said he will do that AFTER the Florida primary. Where is Rubio's support when it comes to this falsehood? He sure jumps on the attacks against Romney real quick. Securing his VP position, more than likely.

Santorum won that debate, hands down. But, you are right, in the last two Florida debates, Newt didn't do as well as he did in SC. As far as the healthcare issue goes, I don't see a difference between Romney and Obama.

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.
I know what the GOP wants, the same type of moderate, quiet style that a Romney/Rubio ticket would bring.
But, I just listened to this clip of Allen West:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid...f_the_usa.html
And I wonder what mood the American people are in? I wonder if they would like to kick it up with a Gingrich/West ticket. LOL! Now that would be a game changer.
The Fix has been in for Romney before the campaigning began, so I don't see anyone but him winning it, but it would be nice to stop the GOP Establishment. It would be really nice to wrestle this country out of their hands.
Just ran across this piece of information and it makes a whole lot of sense now.

Romney Spokesman Behind Plan to Redistrict Allen West out of Office
This has not received a lot of national attention, but the Republican legislature in Florida is about to push through a plan which puts Allen West at serious risk, and the person leading the effort is one of Mitt Romney’s spokesmen [Will Weatherford]

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.
I will not vote for Romney even if it means Obama gets the nomination. He will do anything to win this election - destroying a man's character with a blatant lie.
Disgusting.

The "Virtue" of Mitt Romney
Those who are supporting Romney because Newt went negative and unfairly attacked Bain ought to be more than a little disturbed that Romney is deliberately distorting Newt's Congressional ethics record.
Add (see my post yesterday) that someone on Romney's team selectively pulled obscure quotations, deliberately out of context, and handing them to Eliot Abrams (one assumes he has not himself been pouring over age old special orders for quotations one could miscast), to smear Newt as being insufficiently conservative and Reagan-supporting, when Newt's determined support for Reagan was one of the things we ought to all be grateful for, makes this a pattern. It ought to give the "Romney's more ethical" choir pause.
Newt had many faults for which he can be criticized, but these myriad charges were slung at the wall by desperate Democrats in Congress, who were furious at their defeat, and trying to balance out the sins of Bill Clinton. The charges DID NOT HOLD UP; indeed, it was a political mugging, and on review the IRS said there were no violations at all. Romney knows that.
That Romney nonetheless would use these despicable, known-to-be-false arguments (and there are no shortages of others he could legitimately use) unfortunately indicate that he's just one more ambitious guy who'll say whatever he needs to say, and spend what he needs to spend, to get what he wants.

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.
Yes, I am still ticked!!!
I will be tweeting these articles and others, once a day, until the Convention. We are going to tie this around his neck and pull it real tight - every day. And even if he wins, it will still be on his record. At least we can say, as we did with Obama - we warned you.

Elliott Abrams Caught Misleading on Newt
A piece like the one Abrams wrote depends for its success in garnering headlines -- which it did -- by assuming no one will bother to get into the weeds and do the homework. Usually a safe assumption when dealing with the mainstream media, particularly a mainstream media that, as one with Establishment Republicans, hates Newt Gingrich.
Not so fast.
Due to the diligence of one Chris Scheve of a group called Aqua Terra Strategies in Washington, Mr. Abrams has been caught red-handed in lending himself to this attempted Romney hit job.

Cuban-American Leader: Huge Push for Newt Over Mitt
Carlos Perez, one of Ronald Reagan's closest Miami advisers and a Radio Mambi talk host who is influential in Florida's Cuban-American community, says there is growing resentment among Hispanics due to “lies and distortions” from GOP candidate Mitt Romney targeting former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Perez told Newsmax in an exclusive interview Saturday afternoon that a backlash is brewing against the Romney campaign’s allegation that Gingrich tried to undermine former President Ronald Reagan’s agenda.

That is just stupid!! Romney would be infinitely better for the country than Obama. Newt and Romney's mudding slinging is politics as usual, both of them are muddy.

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.
I don't knwo anymore crak...I despise what Obama has done, but how can we really know that Romney would be any better?
Will he really do anythign to rein in spending? Will he do anyhting to overturn or eliminate Obamacare? He seemed to favor it in MA. What would he really change?
I didn't like Romney in 08. I still don't like him now. And my guy (Cain) just threw his support to Newt. I am leaning that way as well.
I don't know if I would vote for Romney or not. I feel more and more that the difference between Obama nd Romney is really just 6 in one hand or half a dozen in the other. They both will do NOTHING to actually help this country and get us out of debt.

If the Republicans can get the White House and the Senate, then they can have more effect. There are a lot of them that understand that the government cannot continue on its current path.
The libs led by Obama don't have the understanding of how dangerous our current situation really is, or else they don't care if we go the way of Europe.
Romney will continue to the right if he gets elected, because his roots are conservative, he like Reagan has leaned to the left because of being in very, very liberal states.
Newt is exciting in the big ideas, and his general understanding of where we need to go, but there is a perception of him in the general public that the media and Obama will demonize. This will hurt his ability to get elected, I would not be too disappoint if he were to make it. I will certainly support him if he is the nominee.

Romney continues to say that his healthcare plan is working well in MA. Even amid the contrary evidence that Romneycare is working well, he still supports it and would most likely continue that at the federal level.
So, here is my problem with him. If he brazenly flouts that truth, he is even more likely than the average politician to govern in a dishonest and even illegal way.
My other problem with him is that he might have moved toward a conservative place the last two years, but he certainly has not been before that. Two years is not enough to call someone a "consistent" conservative.
He doesn't have a great track record. And to call him a Conservative because of his Mormon background on family values, etc. I would like to ask why his family values didn't serve him when he supported abortion rights for years. It's a little hard to support his conservative Mormon heritage with his record.
If we are looking for a "consistent" conservative, he would not fill the bill.
