My message to AMS:

Quote:
I recently came along this religious site that attributed, what was
most likely the major bolide that occurred on January 11th, to an act
of God approving their religious retreat.

http://www.apostolicnews.org/2011/01...al-conference/

Also, the article stated that someone in your organization visited the
church and somehow confirmed this was not a meteor.

"The following day after the fireball sighting, the American Meteor
Society showed up looking for the the supposed meteorite. After
searching for two days, they finally gave up and concluded it was not
a meteor."

Did any one in your organization take such action?
The response of Robert Lunsford,Operations Manager and Journal Editor of AMS:

Quote:
Daniel,

I can assure you that this is pure fiction...

Sincerely,

Robert Lunsford
American Meteor Society
This is actually really big news.

Was AN misinformed? Did they fabricate this?

When Pastor Spell is most likely your lone source, what do you expect?

Spell's havin' himself an Azusa revival!

Daniel, I love you bro, but I don't like this attack! How can you say all these things about fellow brothers in Christ? Sure, they think that you've lost your way, and are going to Hell for your disrespect for their version of "holiness". They're not afraid to tell you that you will burn eternally because you have a TV, wear shorts, and have a wedding band and gold watch! You are to be "set-apart" because of your continuous questioning of doctrine and rebellious witch-craft spirit!

Come to think of it...they're probably saying the same things about me and my "backslid" state! Alright then.......go get 'em Daniel!

I just want to see the so-called news site (which is a Sacramento Rock Church blog editorial) admit and correct their mistake. It will go a long way if they do.

Apostolics may be about baptisms and spirit encounters, but I'd also like to think they're about honesty.

The Pastor NEVER claimed to see the event it was told to him by authorities who showed up unannounced. If it is an error it was not on the part of the Pastor but the authorities and neighbors who claimed to see it. And the paper was reporting the info it recieved. I think you are being unfair which is nothing new with you.

That's not true, Steve.

No source is even cited here:

Nor is this objective news reporting:

Quote:
I believe God was just putting his stamp of approval on the conference!"
Wait -- or was it. Maybe a quotation mark was missed?

Either way, news sites don't just put everything people say on their site. There is a minimum of fact-checking, or at least should be. It didn't take Dan every long to at least get more about the story.

Again the Pastor NEVER claimed to hve seen the event the authorities showed up while they were having church and told him about the reports? I have no idea if anything was seen or not but someone thought they saw something enough to call the authorities. So the Pastor is quoting the authorities. I am not very excited about these types of stories however to blame the Pastor is unfair.

Hello Stephen Gregory. It's been a big week in forumland.
You posting on one of my threads is monumental.

You'd think that hell has frozen over.

Nonetheless, welcome home.
