Re: Genealogy Research?

I am seeeking a degree in historic preservation. genealogy is part of it. you can also use the national archies. every record that has been recorded on paper is supose to be there.
Also try going to the cemetary that your family was buried at. this will help you with dates.
i have found much of my family in books.

It will say link to someone n file and you say yes and then type n name and nothing happens.

Done the Cementary thing and the family info from alL living relatives at that time.

Re: Genealogy Research?

The Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana is the second largest repository of genealogical information in the world - second only to the Mormon Library in Salt Lake City. I live within an hour and a half of there. Lucky me

Re: Genealogy Research?

I heard on the radio yesterday that Ancestry is now getting into DNA testing.

I am really interested in that. my direct paternal line hits a wall at my great great great grandfather. We cannot put him in any family from the area directly. There is speculation but he may have been illigitmate.

I know his was was at the least. She was listed in her Grandfathers will with his last name, but the guy only had daughters so... she was either his natural child of one of his slaves, or a child of one of his daughters sans a father...

would love to get DNA testing both for the paternal line, and see if I can get a direct female decendant of my Great great great grandmother to check the mitocondrial DNA (sp)

I'm interested n that as well.

Family history says we are related to William Jennings Bryan but I have yet to prove it.

If you want to order from the National Archives, I believe they charge a fee for that. It's been a long time since I've used them, but it seems to me that when I did, I had to pay for them to look for the records as well.
