I love this place, and have invested a lot of time and energy here. No one takes more heat for AFF than I do, and I doubt few defend it as+much as I do, but this site needs an extreme make-over in the worst way.
That's the easy way out, when our arguments are not convincing, Edward!!

I love the fact that so much can be discussed on AFF, even though much is relegated to the Debate Area. Our world is faced with the Richard Hawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett and Sam Harris' of the world, and we need to be able to refute them, and yet still maintain our composure and peace.

We've live in isolation and ignorance too long, we need to study and to be able to speak with authority. Jesus spoke with authority, not just as God, but with reason and logic as well.

The scripture instructs us to be able to explain the reason for the hope that is us.

I like you but I'm glad you are not in control here. I would have been banned long ago if that was the case.

I have no problem with someone doing that.

Just curious though, what is it those who have not logged on in a year, what have they said that bothers you?

I like you too, but why are you here?

Aren't there any atheists forums?

Re: Peace @ AFF

What must we give up ?

PRIDE

This falls under what some have already said about being "absolute" in our interpretation of scripture. Some (like myself) find their long held beliefs being questioned. This is the norm around here but the problem arises when those questions actually carry some wieght, those questions bring about more questions and so on. The intial response is to retaliate in order to protect what one has held dear for so long. Pride will not allow most to even "consider" another point of view.

PRUDENT DISRESPECT

This is one that only those who practice it know what I'm talking about. Its not out right insult but the obvious is hard to avoid. Instead of saying "your response does not make sense...." the poster uses words such as "ignorance" , "lacking" , etc. etc. Its like a political correctness in the sphere of ridicule. Some I truly believe do so in a taunting manner.

GOD

Yes thats what I said. We have to give up God in order to have peace. To many hold on to God as if they own the copyright to His very essence, thoughts and sovereign will. For centuries, despite mans attempts to either glorify or totally destroy, God has been able to hold His own. His Word is everlasting, His Spirit is real, His Son is very much alive and His mercy and love are renewed daily. We are not His personal announcers. We are not the mediator between man and God.

God is the lighthouse, not us. We have God, we dont own Him. He is the light, not us. We have been instructed to let that light shine so others can see the way. That way they can see the choices they have. We all too often shove that light in their face, blinding them to everything.

Re: Peace @ AFF

I believe we are hurt by the lack of commonalities.

In my mind, when someone comes here, with no previous investment or interaction with Oneness Pentecostalism, their only reason for posting is to tear down what we all used to have in common.

I love to argue, but the best arguments are family arguments. The shared culture heats things up.

I tend to disagree, we don't need a purge, just ignore those posters you don't want to interact with.

Ed, I must interject here. I don't believe we have one poster here that hasn't had a previous investment or interaction with Oneness Pentecostalism.

Also, with the Admin hat on - these type grievances are best reported to Admin and not in a thread.

Now, continue on with the Peace @ AFF!

I hate to argue (and I don't use the term hate often)

I enjoy discussion and respectful debate. In that the only thing that "heats up" is the fire the word sets in my bones.
