You ought to be more careful about your ignorant sterotypes. I know many college educated losers, some even worked for me before I fired them.
I think your the exception rather than the rule!

You started your own business, which allowed you not have to go through the resume process to find an excellent job! Good for you!

Don't get your panties in a wad, JAS.

I'm not ignorantly stereotyping! There are plenty of folks who have worked hard and made something of themselves without a college education. Big Fat DUH!!!!

However, kids these days will have a much harder time doing that, unless they go into business for themselves, because most companies REQUIRE a minimum of a bachelor's degree, even for teaching jobs.

Those are the FACTS. Nothing stereotypical about them. I, like you, know quite a few college-educated losers...however, I know a lot MORE losers who work menial jobs with little or no pay because they are paying the consequence for not pursuing their education when they had the golden opportunity.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

so Just a Shep,
would your counsels at a gathering of youth be to...
"go get your GED and go own a business"?

Wrong-O.

Jesus got away with calling a woman a DOG, but I don't of anyone else who could get away with it...do you? Jeff Arnold included....

JA....I like his preaching. I think he has some good things to say. Do I like it when he crosses that line and says some choice words...no.

I would encourage young people to seek God's will for their lives first. Then take whatever route necessary to get the type of education they need to fulfill God's will, Whether it be studying at college, learning a trade, performing an apprenticeship or starting a business.

The idea that everyone "has to go to college" is nonsense. The average pay for an architect in the US is $56,637 yr. The average pay for a level III welder is $52,820. There are plenty of ways to make a good living without spending $35,000 to get a degree.

I don't see Miss B doing any stereotyping. She only stated she wouldn't want to see her children not finish their education and be forced to work at an inferior job like MickyD's. I wouldn't want to either.

I pretty sure you're one of the few exceptions to the rule, and that you are probably within the same generation as I that we were able to get away with a lot more decades ago. We made our way in the world, degree or not.

Not so nowadays. MOST reputable/desireable places of employment require college degrees.

How many years/classes does it take to get to be a level III welder?

As opposed to an architect earning $56 right out of college?

I would rather not name the district or the speaker as that is not the point.

The point is that there were almost 2000 people at this meeting and it got really, really quiet.

I have a 17 year old daughter that was livid.

This guy went on and on about how he gave up scholarships and a free ride to a secular college and look how great his life turned out.

I know his point was to encourage Christian service, but this was irresponsible and potentially damaging.
