Do we have to pay tithes?

Tithing occurred once before the law, (according to the Bible).

It was promised again before the law (by Jacob), although there is no record that he ever did.

It was not continuous before or after the law.

It is not required or suggested after the law for Christians or Gentiles in the Bible.

Nobody that I know of teaches that we should tithe like the biblical tithe.

My guess is that you don't tithe according to scripture.

Not everyone was required or suggested to tithe . . . ever.

Tithing was never for Gentiles or Christians.

Tithing was begun as part of the law by command.
This statement in bold is supported by scripture, the other two statements (concerning the tithe before and after the law being by faith) have no scriptural foundation.

First off no one man should have the kind of authority that is typical of a oneness church. How many churches have a biblical form of elders? If you can't nail this down, the whole tithing subject is moot.

Jesus sent His ministers out two by two. Also a witness of judgement could only be performed by two or three. The only head being Christ, and Christ alone. He is the one who has preeminence. The only time we see a minister seeking preeminence is with the minister Diotrephes. But, when we are told about his seeking of preeminence it is relayed in a bad light.

My Pastor has 3 Elders as his Pastor has 5. I just wanted to know what he was trying to imply, because our church has plurality of elders. And what does this have to do with tithes? Unless he's trying to relate this back to 1 Timothy 5:18-19 which that is not speaking of tithes at all.

If the elders aren't in the same church family, all he has his friends who live in different areas. That isn't what is meant by plurality of elders.

He needs to answer the rest because I don't know what he was trying to say concerning tithes.

Maybe he gives tithes to each elder in his church family?
