Re: Why am I labeled backslid and unusable by God
I think there are some folks who don't really know what a conviction really is. I have seen folks (including myself) who have adopted a standard because it was what was preached and expected, not because they got some revelation or because God "dealt" with them on it.
There is a HUGE difference between conforming to the image of Jesus Christ, and conforming to the image set and accepted my men. It does not mean that a set standard is wrong, bad, or eveil - it is just that, a stand - either for or against something. The only issue that makes standards such a hot button is the two extremes - those who want no standard at all, Biblical or otherwise, and those who love to add the tradition of man and thus making Gods Word of no effect.
Somewhere down the line God has to be able to get a word in edgewise. When we take a stand for personal reasons and then use that stand to measure ourselves among ourselves we become foolish - that swings both ways as well. If I flaunt my liberty in a way to make those who don't feel like I have one up on them, or they are just controlled zombies - I am wrong.
The long and short of it is that if it is not a clear expectation of God, spelled out in His Word, then as Bro. Seagraves has said, we can't afford to become dogmatic about it. We don't need more politicians and or super spiritual people touting themselves around with a clear attitude problem and a superiority complex - we need to be humble before the only being in the universe who truly is holy and that is Jesus Christ. We need to practice more love and less angst toward each other - as it just dismantles folks ability to see that we are His disciples.
