It's beyond my comprehension that they were able to individually find probable cause against each mother in the sect.
Consequently, I am not so certain that Texas can deliver fair trials; especially considering the trauma and publicity that already surround this case.
The normal practice (that I am familiar with) is to ask kids questions first (without mom and dad there). Then separate them from their parents if the answers given or facts known warrant it. But taking custody of the child before asking questions shocks me.
Give me a week and I think I could ask enough questions of children already traumatized by their new environment and forcefully and unexpectedly separated from their parents to implant serious doubt, confusion and perhaps even false memories in the chldren.
This is scary....

I understand Texas is getting around the probable cause "for each mother" by arguing the entire community is one household.
I think that's a shame. Whose "community" is really safe now?

But we don't know what the CPS workers and law enforcement officers saw or heard inside the compound. Or who they talked to before they removed the children.

It pretty much is their lifestyle Stephen. Communal lives, dormitories, so it is one household by their own admission. But that place is huge.

Well, that certainly should have come to light at a probable cause/preliminary hearing. But so far I haven't heard of anything conclusive other than an alleged 16 year old girl's phone call (who can't be found) and lots of speculation. What do they have on any individual family?

The biggest problem of finding an individual family is so many children with one father but more than one mother apparently. Since the man can have plural wives that means individuality is not part of their lives. If the women were born into this "family" the same way these children are, isn't there a possibility of incest?

Perhaps they all are abusive and incestious.
BUT how can the government take custody of the kids and then take weeks attempting to find out what they can actually charge them with?
This should terrify all parents.

It doesn't concern me in this case. Now, we have to redefine the word "family" as some have multiple mothers. That, in itself, opens up a plethora of problems concerning other groups, such as homosexual marriage, etc. What a mess they have caused.

This is like any other case of CPS removing children to make sure they are safe. Because of the number of children involved it would take a very long time to remove one or two children at a time. If they did it that way, the parents would have time to instruct the children on what to say and what not to say. And we do know that would also jeapordize some of these kids more.
What do you believe the solution is? Or how do you think that CPS should handle this?

Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...
IMO, CPS taking children from innocent parents is abuse. While not rising to the level of sexual or physical abuse, separating innocent children from innocent parents would be a close second for mental distress and long-term emotional damage.
I just hope CPS can justify every single case of separation or alternately face charges themselves.
