I cannot speak to the initial issue, but the assisting officer did nothing wrong.
What would have been your reaction if you were the assisting officer, just arriving on the scene?
They had a hold of her arms. The could have handcuffed her. There was no need to punch her repeatedly in the face. How do you view that as no wrong? What is the matter with you? If there are no weapons involved, then the cops should only be allowed to use as much force as necessary to handcuff someone. This was not needed. They had control of her. She was squirming a little bit, but like I said, they had her arms in control to handcuff her. No punches were needed. This is excessive force to the tenth degree. Look at the video. The blows didnt start til she had her arms behind her back.

If the situation has come to throwing blows, I would be likely justified in using deadly force because I am not going to let the person I am subduing get the upper hand of me.

So if deadly force is not appropriate in this situation, neither would punching the subject in the face.

Punching someone in the face is disrespectful and in most cases would only ESCALATE the situation. It would definitely be something that I would have a very hard time defending. With this video, if I were the 2nd officer, the one who actually punched the woman in the face, I wouldn't be shocked if I lost my job.

It is a highly insulting gesture and it wasn't necessary.

I always had other less-than-lethal resources at my disposal. However, I was always a professional AND I knew I was always on camera as a Civilian Federal LEO.
You are a cop?

FMC - I only see one punch to the face, not repeatedly. I also did not see that they had control of her arms. The original officer had control of her left arm and the assisting officer tried to get control of her right arm. As JD should be able to tell you, you can break or dislocate someones arm that is resisting arrest, even if you have a hold on their arm.
Cops are trained when they need to take further action to make someone submit and this is what the assisting officer did, imo.
Now, I am sure she will get some kind of payout from the city, just so they won't have to go to court.
But, the officer followed his training, imo.

Re: "Help Me! Help Me Please!"

Also, the ladies beef was with the original officer.
The assisting officer had no issue with her, according to what I read.
Which makes it unlikely that he would just try to hit her out of retaliation.

There isn't anything correct about this situation.

Dislocating someone's shoulder would be at least defendable. Punching someone in the face is not.

But this entire situation is not defendable.

Re: "Help Me! Help Me Please!"

Seems to me from what I read of the original article the initial arrest was bogus.

I agree with you, which is also the reason why ALL CHARGES against this woman were eventually dropped.
