Re: D. Bernard shares his thoughts about HolyMagic

Please explain why the angels need a womans long hair to let them know she is under submission, "has power with God" etc but have no need of any outward symbols like that to tell if men are under submission or "have power with God"?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Those same angels were thought to have copulated with the "daughters of Adam" in Genesis 6.

It's sort of like saying, "Hands off Mephisto, this girl's already taken...!"

Re: D. Bernard shares his thoughts about HolyMagic

I would like to know why everyone can agree that I Corinthians 11 is talking about headship and submission and then all of a sudden it gets changed to being uncut hair and or veils mean submission. I like that DB stressed long hair but then to go on and say that long hair means uncut hair ruined it for me. I know that is what they believe and have been taught for many years but I do not see it. I do see long hair but not uncut. I even understand long hair but when you start replacing words like long with uncut and short with cut it then totally changes it all and makes it sound crazy. If they want to change the long for uncut that need to read it that way and think about how that sounds.

DB clearly shows the wisdom God has given him by leaving the proponents of the teaching out of the picture in his response to Dan.

Interesting there are no outward signs like these to judge if a man is consecrated, under submission, or has power with God.
That has always been my contention...all the legalism appears to be directed at women.

The bible tells us who the angels encamp about...why do we have to make up extrbiblical doctrine and leaps of assumptions...why can't people just accept God's word?

Psalms 34
7The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Col. 2:
18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22Which all are to perish with the using after the commandments and doctrines of men?
