Can you PM me directions to Bethel in M'boro? I have no idea where it's at. Zac got used to sleeping in on Sun. mornings and just going to night church; it might be hard to get him to beak that habit. LOL! At least this year, he will have two Godly roommates who will go to church with him so he won't have to go all alone.
Here is the address;

Bethel Murfreesboro
1203 Park Ave.
Murfreesboro, TN 37129
ph. 615-896-2348

Park Avenue is off or Middle Tennessee Blvd. It is in kind of an industrial area.

BTW - CC is starting a new Sunday night service that kicks off tonight in the Wallace Chapel with what they are describing as "amped up worship, relevent Biblical teaching, and an outflow of God-inspired creativity - A different kind of worship experience for all ages". They didn't say who was preaching it.

For years they talked about starting a Saturday night service as an alternative to Sunday morning but it has never happened. I noticted that a large local Baptist church here in Murfreesboro started a Sat night alternative service not long ago and I happened to drvie by the first night and saw a lot of cars in their parking lot. I think that would appeal to a lot of folks.

Well

I wish there were 1 step oneness churches where I live. All of the oneness churches around here are really in the mold of the UPC.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

CC is not a pefect church but has done a great job for 57 years of reaching Nashville for Christ.

I personally like the 'Bapticostal" nature of it becaues it had enough emotional hoop te do to last a lifetime in the UPC and I have seen just as many people healed, lives changed, etc without it as with it (probably more).

My only gripe is that over the years if you are not careful the one step view causes you to deemphasize the things one should do subsequent to salvation which includes water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Ghost for sanctification. CC deals with those in classes but of the thousands that attend some never take those classes so do not hear those things emphasized on Sunday's.

Yes

I don't know if I would be comfortable with not having those things preached from the pulpit. Like you said some people just don't go to the classes. For some it is Sunday morning and they never venture into anything more.

The only thing that we have where I live is reaaaaaaaaallly conservative oneness, reaaaaaaaaaaalllly liberal charismatics, and laid back AGs (there is one AG church in my area that has been getting into more prayer etc.)

The trinitarian charismatic church I have visted near my house and that my wife is probably going to go to has been great about all of the things I have concerns with the few times I have been there. I heard the pastor talk about how important water baptism is as an action signifying ones change of allegience, etc. I have also heard from their pulpit strong statements regarding morality, etc. Not in a judgementa lway but a biblical, factual way. If they only baptized in Jesus name! (Pianoman went to this churches mother church for about a year and said they will baptize in Jesus name if someone asks but I don't think they do that normally)

When Eddie talked about coming to CC, this is one thing he talked about - they definitely have a need for a contemporary worship experience. He would have pushed for a Saturday night service. BUT......it wasn't the will of God for us to come to Nashville.

Re: Christ Church Pastor Change

I realized we have fussed alot over many issues but my heart is saddened by this post that the lack of emphasis on truth has led to this mindest that truth really matters very little.
You believe obeying Acts2:38 is truth with speaking in tongues but it doesn't matter.
I am not trying to offend as much as I like to fuss but this has made my heart hurt.

Brother, that's the true slippery slope: knowing the truth and it not mattering much.

The board has asked Dan to start looking for an assistant pastor. The next few months should be interesting!
Have any names been given for a possible future assistant pastor?
Will this person need to have a upc or oneness background like so many others have been? Just curious to know.

To the forum - do you have any suggestions for them?
