Amen, and let it begin with me.
This is a personal walk, Mother Alvear, this journey with the Master. It has been my aim for a while now to rid my life of stuff that is not just sin...we know what those things are, but those things which are a weight/detriment to a peaceful life. Those things will be different for everyone for sure...
My part in this discussion today, though one of care and concern, has left me quite sad. And since I fear my words are merely bouncing around in cyberspace with having no lasting effect, for selfish reasons I will leave it alone. Taking care of Barb and keeping her motives and actions in check is a full-time job.
So...as I am not smart enough to have all the answers, and in light of my ineptness at speaking healing, I will do as you suggest and commit it all to prayer.

If you stick around long enough, history always repeats itself-- even on forums.
I wanted to say a few things after finally catching up on this thread, but perhaps it's best to take the old advice of if I can't say something nice to say nothing at all.. and just exit the thread.

Barb,
Although your words probably won't find their intended "target" and/or will bounce off, don't stop posting the truth. You hit the nail squarely on the head with your assessment, and it's entirely possible, even probable, that even though the person for whom they were intended will not receive them, there are readers who will take them to heart in their own lives. They are not in vain.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Living Arrangements
I can think of no circumstance I would want to live in the same house as a man that is not my husband.
I am not saying this in any way to hurt Rhoni for she is my friend like many of you. However what if I were alone and you came to Brazil and I was living in the same house with some man and I said ...Oh...we just rent the same house... Tha might be the true and strictly the truth but how would I ever make everyone believe that?
I think it leaves room for too much talk and I do not think it would be what Jesus would tell us to do.
We must be a light to this world...the world shacks up...and even though we might say we were not but if we want to or not we would be sending out that message. (and by no means am I saying that in those circumstances all men and all women do things that are not right)
I am not doubting in any way Rhoni...I am speaking of what others would say about us.There are many good loyal people in the world and high morals.
I do not have money...sometimes not even enough for things I think I need (probably don`t) I do not have even a car since our last visit from robbers..BUT I do have a reputation and that means more to me than any material thing.
Not too long ago someone attacked the reputation of my family...I really wanted to sue and still want to them especially a certain preacher´s wife...and that is far out of my personality but it bothers me so much...
If IT would have been my character I think I would have already sued! ...And I am a calm easy going person...and have never sued anyone and that would be the only reason I would sue someone...because my character is mine to protect and guard.
I think I am just rambling....sorry...
I may feel stronger on this point than some...perhaps I am over doing it.
I just think our character must be important to us and I know as long as we are human our enemies will say whatever they want to (at least some of them and want to or not we all have someone that does not like us)
Usually those that try to tear us down are ones that wish they were like us!

Your post inspired me to do an experiment just out of curiousity.
So to conduct this little experiment, I visited another forum where I read & post occasionally. Allow me to add that the forum I chose is in no way considered a christian type forum. I made the following post:
Quote:
Without using any dictionary definitions -- How would you define the word LOVER?
|
These are the responses I received.
Quote:
Someone you care a lot about and want to share yourself with.
|
Quote:
I think its someone who you want to share your whole life with, heart and soul. Someone who you cant live without, emotionally and physically.
|
Quote:
Okay to me, and it may have something to do with my current state right now (going thru my 2nd divorce and all), a lover is someone you have a sexual relationship with. Not necessarily someone you are totally in love with.
|
Quote:
some person you lust with and for....intimate bed partner
|
Quote:
Someone that you have sex with.
|
Quote:
a sex partner, that is not necessarily a spouse.
|
Quote:
Someone that you make love to
|
Quote:
Someone that you have a sexual relationship with.
|
Quote:
Someone you have sex with, with or without love.
|
Quote:
Lover is someone you have a sexual relationship with and if you're lucky, more than that.
But my very first thought was 'someone who loves.'
|
Quote:
My defintion of the word Lover: Lover is someone with whom you have strong emotional feelings for and you want to have to have this person your life would be sent into a tail spin if they weren't there to be in your life they fullfil all of the where's why's and who's and If you are at work or the grocery store and you happen to be thinking of them they sense that you are with them heart mind body and soul and you never want to live your life without them imho
|
Quote:
A sexual partner, hopefully that you have emotional ties with.
I always thing of the song by the Motels when someone says they broke up with their lover.
"Take the L out of LOVER and it's OVER"
