The work in Brazil has been inspiring and exhausting as we have traveled several thousand miles over the last month visiting 5 states. We dedicated one new church, attended a regional convention, spoke at a couples seminar, took care of Brother Raul Jr’s church one weekend, spoke at a youth convention, besides many special and regular services…Our bodies are tired however our spirits are excited to see many things God is doing. It is so wonderful to see God filling people with the Holy Ghost and people being baptized.
It's such an inspiration to see how the congregations are growing in size and in maturity. The nationals sacrifice so much to see the work of God grow in this vast country.
We also made a round to visit some of the first churches I started when I was single! You cannot imagine the joy of those people when we walked in their services. So many hugs and kisses.
Several of our churches are remodeling right now, Some of the main ones are Casa Branca, Maceio Headquarters, Vargen Grande.
In Maceio area we just lost an awesome pastor in a car wreck. Please remember to pray for the people at the Boca da Mata Church.
We have started back working on the retaining wall at the campground and a ramp. We do it as we can however we really need to get it finished before the end of the year rains sit in. It has become a major project far more expensive than we ever dreamed. However once it is done the problem will be solved. Thanks to those that have helped on this project and we ask that you consider helping one more time.
Brother Raul Jr just got back from the Bahia state convention and the dedication of one more church in Bahia.
Oct. is children’s outreach in Brazil. We always have great results with this effort.
Next year we are planning on having a great outreach in the state of Maranhao. In fact we would like to extend the invitation to all to become a part of Jungle Outreach…We are inviting anyone to come and spend 10 days with us helping us both working on a church, passing out tracts and giving Bibles to the Indians and nationals. Make your plans now for this great endeavor. If you are interested you should begin now seeing about tickets to Our tentative dates are Oct. 1-10. We will getting more information in coming letters. There will be an expense for hotels and food to be sent ahead of time and transportation from and back to Sao Luiz Marahnao to Barra Do Corda.
We have never did anything like this before so it should be very exciting to say the least.
There is an urgent need for us to buy bricks for the 3rd floor of our dorms to close in for our December camp meeting in Maceio. I think 1000 dollars would do it if anyone could help us we would be deeply grateful.
May the Lord of harvest smile upon us all:
Bishop Raul and Janice Alvear and familiy

Dear Friends in the Homeland
A beautiful scripture from Is. 58:10 says, “And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday.” My Bible in Portuguese says, if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
For many long years we have poured ourselves out to help the Brazilian people and in our twilight years we are seeing so many results and thankful people. God has been so good to us and blessed us with so many noble and kind friends that have made our journey so enjoyable.
Brother Raul Jr just dedicated a new building for services in an area some 12 or more hours from him. Through your help we were able to buy all the chairs they needed for the building they have rented and help with expenses of the group that went there.
We also have been working on the retaining wall and believe it or not we are almost finished…Praise God it has been a major undertaking and we did not realize what a project it would turn out to be and how much it would cost us in the end. However we feel the building now is saved and as funds come in we plan to reinforce it with stucco.
In Maceio we are in a major reform and completing the 3rd floor of our dorms. We just finished painting the inside of the church and built what we call a view breaker at the entrance of the church. It is designed for safety and privacy than anything else. As many of you know we live in a very dangerous area. We have also repainted the walls surrounding our church inside and out. Everyone is so excited getting ready for our December convention. Because of our weather we paint two times a year and our building is so big we have decided to buy tiles for the front to save us from painting twice a year. This also us a big job but we will have this too finished for convention.
I am presently working on a baptism booklet. If anyone would like to help me have funds to get it printed I would be deeply grateful. We have a new group of people we have met that are trinity and they have asked us for some Bible studies. This would even be a great blessing to these new people.
So many good things the lord is doing in our mist. We are so thankful to be a part of God’s eternal purpose.
We want to thank all those that have supported missions anywhere in the world.
May God bless you and repay you many times over.
Brother and Sister Alvear
