The Democratic machine didn't pick Obama. He won a primary among Democratic voters. McCain only met Palin once. That means the "machine" told him who to pick for sheer political reasons....not based on who is best for America's welfare and safety if McCain were to drop dead.

Neither Obama or Palin are qualified. But Obama's choice shows the kind of judgment needed in a leader with weaknesses. McCain's choice is a begging and pleading for votes.

So using your same thought pattern your saying the Democrats are begging and pleading for votes by choosing a black man.

I hate to bust your bubble but both parties have input into who is chosen for the VP position.

A man is known by his company. Obama picked Biden based on Binden's qualifications. McCain picked Palin because she's a woman and goes to church. A massive PANDERING to women and children. Clearly a desperate move.

Obamas choice was a strategic move on his part. Hillary would have been his SMARTEST choice..instead he chose a man who was 5th in the Iowa primaries.....not a big ripple in the democratic party...But Obama chose him over a proven crowd favorite? As in 18M people?
He didnt chose Hillary b/c she is a threat to him.
If McCain had chosen some dried up old white man with more money than sense, would that have made him more or less political?
Instead he chooses a woman who understands the problems facing average americans, the working middle class......and his choice was political?
it was smart on his part and a sign there is HOPE for washington

The Cons and Ultra cons I know and visited with today, want this in a bad way. Condi Rice might have been OK too to hear them speak.

Individual Democratic votes elected a black man to be a candidate. He wasn't chosen by the Democratic Party. Just voters who swung Democratic. McCain only met Palin once...the Republican machine clearly told him who to choose....and he grovelingly obeyed.

Mccain has the experience that Palin lacks...she has the experience McCain lacks...AND she is a smart, educated woman.
how come his choosing her is pandering to women? I think your opinion of her as a token woman is more pandering to women than Mccains choice...she is a smart woman with same or equal experience of her opponents.....but you discount her and dont even give her chance BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN.
I think we are just lucky she happens to be a woman and goes to church.

How many times do you think Obama met Biden? And, don't you think his advisers were instrumental in his pick?
