Re: Forum is Ex-Pentecostal??

Renda,

If you leave UPC and the standards you are no longer Pentecostal period. You have then crossed over to being "Charismatic" . I talk to UPCers all the time and whenever a person's name comes up that left holiness they are always referred to as " oh they went Complete Charismatic". Now, you may resent that, but that's how it is end of story I am right about about case closed .

Oh! and did I tell you that I LOVE IT! heheheheheheehhehehe!!!!

Re: Forum is Ex-Pentecostal??

I didn't read all the posts in this thread.
I voted.

I consider myself to be Apostolic/Pentecostal/Charismatic also Non-denominational and Inter-denominational.

In my opinion:
I am Apostolic because I believe the the New Testament message of Jesus as preached by the Apostles.
I am Pentecostal because I have received the Holy Ghost Baptism (HGB) as did about one fourth of the early church as recorded in Acts chapter 2 and verses 1-4.
I am Charismatic because I believe in the charismata or gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I am non-denominational because the organization with which I am affiliated considers itself to just be part of the NT church not the whole NT church.
I am inter-denominational because I accept anyone who has made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ to be my brother or sister.

I do not like to use words like "oneness" or "trinity" to describe myself because, in my opinion, there is so much variety within each of those groups.

I do believe that God is one: that He is my Father who loves me; He is my Savior who gave His life for me; and He is the Holy Spirit who lives within me.

Exactly. In my opinion, one of the things that is missing on these forums is reinforcement of the core principle behind what brought us together in the first place: open, honest, fair, and respectful dialogue on issues we differ on.

Well, there ya go - of course they are going to say that! Guess that makes it gospel!

I don't resent anything, especially something that is wrong.

Mark, the word Pentecostal since the history began with the use of that word meant ONLY the view that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is evidenced by speaking in tongues, not that one belongs to the organization UPC or standards,

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

But you know, Renda, there have been "other thought processes" all along, and something that some may not like to acknowledge is that these difference are what made the Mothership the Mothership.

This poll is private, so no one will know your vote but you.

Sidenote: You decide for yourself what "pentecostal" means.
As to the original question. No, I do not believe AFF is an Ex-Pentecostal forum. But it does seem that those that have decided to remove themselves from the core values that traditional Apostolics hold have become the majority here. This is probably the biggest reason some chose not to frequent AFF any longer on a regular basis.

Re: Forum is Ex-Pentecostal??

No, AFF is not ex-Pentecostal. If anything the AFF is very Pentecostal. We just have differing viewpoints as would any group of believers...Pentecostal or not.
