It would seem to offer a balance if a well-visited thread on ethics considered the ethical questions we are all involved in when we post information that has come to us through official channels or from associates that are in official channels.

thanks,

it would seem to be struggling to get any traction.

The affiliation discussion is supplying too much juice for the discussion to widen out to ethics in general.

I had a huge problem a while back from outside influence, but it was because I said some pretty stupid and kneejerk type stuff. I had to banish myself for a while until I sufficiently ate enough crow to choke a horse.

I suppose I am back posting for a while, but I am much milder and kinder and more balanced, not letting my alter-ego get the best of me just to stirr things up.

...but enough about me.
Good to see you posting Carp!!! I thought about you last night when Southwest Airlines "DING" sale popped up with a sale on round trips to your fair city for about two hundred bucks! If I were a rich man I would have bought one and surprised you one day for lunch.

I'm of course in character ... being facetious.

Everything [hyberbole] here is usually marginalized as a conspiracy ...

Those who left that you mention all gave differing reasons. From the standpoint of potential "troublemakers" I think I rank up there and no one outside this forum has ever said a word to me about this forum. Except my wife, and she says "hi."

Has everyone existed within a structure of intimidation in the past and now you fear the bright light of day? Lawsuits? Gimme a break. Unless you've offended the RIAA you can say or do just about anything online and not fear a lawsuit. Not that you should do or say just about anything, but talks of lawsuits is hyperbole. Chatter on.

As far the schism goes, it would only work and cut only as deep as the rumormongers and gossips are allowed to go. If we use our collective voices to stand up to the bullies, then fewer of our friends will feel bullied to join some schismatic faction.

The three posters that left have used their photos in their avatars, making them more vulnerable to threats and intimidation. Everyone had a pretty good idea who they were!

For some of the rest, one must do a bit of detective work!

Your wife lurks here?

Tell her to get a life!

Lawsuits are a real threat. I heard of a man who punched another in the nose. The punched man sued for $1 for the simple annoyance factor. He won the $1 plus costs.
