Brother Hoover, those are incredible stories! How can anyone say that airing the truth over the airwaves is ineffective? If we are willing to say that Jesus would've gone to the cross for just one soul, how can we say tv evangelism or advertising is not worth it?

Now all my friends and even members of our old church would make fun of me for this and say I am a Trinitarian lover and I shouldn’t listen to “false doctrine” so I don't tell this testimony often. I am 27 now and this is not the coolest thing for a young guy. Jimmy Swaggart bought out our local country station around seven years ago and replaced it with his Son Life Radio Network. I was basically dead spiritually. I listened all the time before I even found out it was Swaggart. I love the Holy Ghost that I felt and actual preaching from the word. Though I have always gone to a UPC church and I was used to spirit filled preaching this network was such a blessing and helped start a hunger in me to be refilled with the Holy Ghost. It took me almost seven years of being on the platform and playing church but I finally was refilled. I don’t listen as much now because of all the constant criticism that they have towards other preachers.

Also, my sister went to college at CLC and got me the cds of Daniel Seagraves class on Romans and Galatians. It was like 20 cds. He taught things I had never heard in a UPC church about grace and faith and in ways that would just cause me to weep while listening in the car.

I credit these two events in my life with starting me on my personal search back to God and an understanding of who I am and what I believe.

I have always found it easier to get something out of preaching on CD or TV. I don't know if it is because I am in a comfortable environment at home or in the car. Believe it or not, many times at a young age I could not pay attention to the preaching or be open like I should because of certain negative vibes I would get from church. I was always surprised when later I would hear the same message on CD and really enjoy the message.

My problem was I just hated sitting in church with the feeling that certain people were watching my every move to make sure I was acting Pentecostal enough and jumping up at the right time and all that stuff.

well, I cant say TV ministry ever really did anything for me, but I did hear about 5 minutes of a TD Jakes sermon that was ONENESS to the core and it was awesome.
