Would an exit of Ultra Cons make the UPC more appealing to outsiders and ex-UPCers?

Phil, the UPCI shifted well to the right 15 years ago. The UPCI has shifted slightly back to the center this year.

I suspect the UPCI will remain a pretty conservitive organization.

Eventually things are going to change. without change you get stagnation.

Eventually the UPCI will look quite different than it has in times past. It isnt the church going liberal, it is the natural progression of things. WE dont look anything like Holiness people in 1875. WE sure dont look like the first century church. Change is enevetable.

The key (and what I pray happens) is we begin to live by the principles of Holiness and Godliness and modesty without attempting to define to the most infinite detial what that means.

This pretty much sums up how I live my life for God and how I have taught my kids to live their lives for God. My kids personal consecrations are NOT carbon copies of mine. They have been taught to consider the principles of Godliness I taught them and to prayerfully allow the Holy Ghost in their lives to lead them. I could cite numerous examples but that would be foolish. They are working out their own salvation, beyond the death,burial and resurrection on their own.

Just as an FYI... the move to the right began more than 15 years ago. My mom and I have often talked about how much different the accepted standards of today are when compared to the standards Elder Frank Parkey taught when she was growing up. You would be surprised.

Actually, I wouldnt be supprised. I grew up in the Church that Papa George was out of. I remember the standards he taught and I know he was considered a liberal.

But you also have to place proxemity to culture in context.

When your mom was growing up, the Baptist women still wore dresses.

This is true. She was more focused on jewelery and that type of stuff. It was NOT preached against.
