Evangelizing the world through TV can be effective - not just advertising your church, but true evangelizing. Actual services being aired. Not only would it reach the unsaved, but help keep those that are saved, but are homebound encouraged. (My parents were not able to attend church for 6 months due to chemo/radiation treatments my dad was receivng for his cancer).

On another note - We believe in door knocking and in canvassing. We live in a rather small community so we can almost reach everyone (if they are home that day), but what do you do when you live in a big city that has numerous apartment buildings, high-rises, condos, that are 20 floors -do you actually go to each floor and knock on each door? How about gated neighborhoods - can you get past the security? I am just wondering if we can truly reach everyone that lives in this country - not to mention overseas...

just wondering...

I guess the ALJC dropped the ball, or just didn't have enough Holy Ghost to get the job done.

No sir....but they lacked the funds and they certainly have not pushed it to its potential.

I have seen very few things the ALJC puts out that was not quite "cheesy". With that in mind...kinda glad they have not tried.

You are right on the first account.
The ALJC will NEVER be big enough to do what the UPCI could do with its means.

IF we are truly the church that the gates cannot prevail against.......what are we REALLY afraid of?

Some will say.....But TBN has turned to hollywood in nature.

THIS IS TRUE!! TBN has not now nor will it ever represent the church of the Living God...

IT (TBN) is not Apostolic........So they went into the battle without the Holy Ghost with them to begin with.

BUT......IF we are the truth and WE are the church......why are we so afraid to go toe to toe with the enemy?

Seriously guys.....this has been tearing me up inside!
Are we trying to protect our traditions, our concepts our control of people....or are we just flat our afraid to go to the battlefield?

Some will say...."If we go on tv...we will lose our holiness".

I DISAGREE!.....IF tv makes some lose their "holiness", they never had it to begin with.
SOMETIMES a test is the only way to prove you have learned anything.

Remember....JESUS IS OUR HOLINESS....Our dress are standards of holiness that project an outward sign of an inward conversion.
I would dare say that if TV made you lose your holiness.....you never had Jesus in you to begin with and your outward holiness was pointless.

So.....since scripture says the "violent take it by force". why are we scared of the battle of the airwaves!

NO...its not the answer to all our outreach needs and no it will not win the world. But, I do feel it is a step towards the fullfilment of the great commision.

I say this...what if.....just if....the Apostolic Church was willing to go toe to toe with hollywood?
What would happen....
One of two things...either it would prove us to be fakes.....OR it would cause SATAN to lose grip on his kingdom and it would remind him that NOT even the prince of the air stands a chance against the KING OF IT ALL!!!!!!!

Just some thoughts from my private prayer time I thought I would share.

Going toe-to-toe with Hollywood... hmmm.

I guess there is no good reason for not using the medium of TV to reach people for the gospel.

I am a wee bit afraid that some may be appalled by the airing of a "red hot" holy roller service - I know I am appalled sometimes...

Professional advertising, or even airing expository preaching and teaching or happy Pentecostal music should be a wonderful asset to the Apostolic church.

If our church started airing live church services I would have to rethink my attendance though - It is too intensly personal and private to me to broadcast live church.

Dan, the world does not want another freak show to cut up and make comedy clips out of on late night comedy shows.

Seems the modern church missed the power present in the 1920-1930's.

Otherwise our churches of 75 would be churches of 5000 affecting the world like Asuza did. Seems that there are not many willing to forsake the entire world to reach the world.

I don't see TV as the answer either.

Not going into much detail - I know many are concern with the quality of what would be aired. I am as well. However, would it be possible to have some sort of a system set up as to what could be used? I'm in an agreement that we don't need "freak" shows to compete with Saturday Night Live. However, I believe it can be done tastefully.

Does anyone have the answer as to what I posted previously - are we reaching everyone that we can through door knocking especially those who live in big cities that have apartment buildings that are 20 stories high, gated neighborhood. Are we able to knock on all those doors? How about elderly people that live in assisted living buildings - are we reaching them through door knocking?

No we are not knocking those doors.

Another question; Did the Disciples go doorknocking?

They didn't doorknock per sey - however, they did whatever means they had to reach the world at that time.

True... I would however be interested in knowing why they did not doorknock. Surely if they knocked all the doors in any givin city someone would have shown interest, thus validating the program, and qualifying as "whatever means".
