Oh come now.
Could you clarify that? Are your referring to a couple not wanting kids or a large family, or are you referring to someone being against OTHERS having a large family?

A) We don't want a large family, or ANY family outside of the fury, feathered, finny, variety.
B) We DON'T want others to have large families who cannot (or will never be able to) afford it. Those who DO and cannot afford it are taking from others who can (via way of taxes). Another way of saying THAT is, thievery.

It is important to remember that until the last few hundred years virtually everyone grew up with a tract of land that they grew and/or raised their own food on. Their kids would help in the farming. Essentially, the more kids you could 'breed', the more farm hands you had. Anything they didn't have would be bartered for with stuff they did have. Also, before antibiotics and modern plumbing you could literally count on a majority of your large family dying off before they had kids of their own.

Now we don't have the farmers society and people pay for their families with money. The more kids you have the more money you need..... Most can't simply grow more food to feed more mouths. And what happens when you don't have enough 'money'? Gov steps in, along with all the numerous well wishers who wish to donate to the large downtrodden families. Never mind that the "large" downtrodden families are "large" because of choice.....

Lighten up guys. I did not call anyone anything. I believe the devil influences people to think children are a cursing and not a blessing.

That's it. Nothing more.

I will never understand why some people are against having children. I can understand not wanting a bunch of them, but not wanting any at all doesn't compute. I am not saying this to be rude, but when I hear financial arguments againt having children it leaves me thinking the people who make those arguments are very selfish. Children are not the reason why taxes are as high as they are and they are not the reason why you don't take home as much as you'd like. The Bible teaches children are a blessing, not a curse.

We don't...and we don't have the selfish tag from anyone. Just ask those that know us. Yet, we also don't use the financial argument either

Amen. Well said.

Not to be rude, or anything, but the Duggars are ancient news for us in-the-know large-family types.

It's funny how observation of large families causes some pepole to tighten their grip on their wallet. All they can see is the costs in terms of money.

American society has been fed, and largely has swallowed, the contrived figures from various "authorities" on the total cost to raise a child to age 18. The numbers and assumptions they use are faulty at best, and foolish at worst.

Rarely do people find themselves in awe of our convictions about the sanctity of human life, or our faith in God, which are our prime motivators. No, they just stiffen and feel justified in informing me that they've got no interest in paying for my brats, even though I didn't and wouldn't ask them to.

My exposure to offerings taken for large families has been in time of emergency, and the large families have not been over-represented proportionally, in the number of offerings taken, to the "normal-sized" families.

I would refer those of you who grit your teeth and become fretful at the sight of large, lower-income families, to Proverbs 28:27
