No. A lie necessitates that you know that what you're saying is not true. Perhaps she was trying to find common ground (in an Al Gore "I discovered Love Canal" or "I invented the Internet" kind of way). There's one way to find out: ask her.

I know someone that makes up stories of when we were younger and
the events never happened. They expect you to agree with them too.
If you can't be truthful then saying nothing is best.

I know of a couple that one night after prayer meeting came to their pastor ,crying telling the pastor to stay with the church which at the time were going thru difficulty and 3 months later told the pastor that he and his wife had never said any such thing ,that the pastor was lying.Hopefully for the man in question he was lying without even knowing he was.

I think so also - it is second nature to them and they do it without even thinking. I think some people honestly believe their own lies!!!

If someone teaches heresy but believes they are teaching the truth are they liars or heretics or both?

Can someone lie and not know they are lying?
The Bible states that..... no lie is of the truth. ( I John 2:21)
I believe a person can be mistaken and if they
are not sure, they should say, "I could be mistaken, but
if I read correctly, thus and so...! But to deliberately tell
something that is untrue is a lie, plain and simple.
